There hasn’t been a good Star Wars title since the Empire Strikes Back. All those who disagree are either hopelessly deluded super fans or cinematic ignoramuses.

Empire sucked, return of Jedi was better, everything about it, cinematic, light Sabre battles, acting, special effects. Empire is the episode one of original trilogy

Werw all entitled to our own opinion. I am glad there are lots of star wars based content. As a fan anyone would want more. There are endless opportunities to make loads of films etc. As a fan you should embrace it . If you moan about films after empire being crap, then your obviously not as big a fan as I am.
You telling me boba riding the rankor was not a big highlight?

God forbid people LIKE something you don’t! The horror! Your opinion isn’t objective. Get over yourself.

For those who missed Rogue One in the theater, it is terrific. It is nonstop action. It is a war story. Enjoy a film that was finally worth waiting for.

Rogue One is one of the most pointless, “so what” movies ever made. It’s not only cluttered within itself, it adds more clutter to an ever-increasingly cluttered canon. Like Solo, it serves only to “fill” “plot holes” that exist entirely in the imaginations of certain subsets of fans and second-generation content creators. The lead actors deliver performances so vague and halfhearted they appear to be on tranquilizers the whole time.

If it wants to be interesting and exciting again, Star Wars needs to stop retreading the same old ground over and over again, strewing contradictions and retcons in its wake. Even The Mandalorian squandered the amazing potential it had early on by gratuitously shoehorning Clone Wars characters into what had previously been really compelling as a standalone story.

The only project I’m really looking forward to at this point is whatever Taika Waititi comes up with for the film he’s committed to. I trust him to bring in something fresh and new that has an actual point of view and a story to tell, instead of being just another reheated helping of “Wouldn’t it be cool if Blorbo 1 from Novel X fought Blorbo 2 from Cartoon Y who isn’t really dead after all, and it turned out they were both old friends of Blorbo 3 from A New Hope all along, and they were actually the ones who built the Whatchamacallit Machine instead of the Whatchamacallits as depicted on Comic Z from 30 years ago?” Dave Filoni needs to take a long break.

Heck, at this point I’d rather see Jar Jar Binks telling knock-knock jokes for half an hour a week.

      You couldn’t be more wrong.

      1. Melissa

Well, who could possibly argue with such a detailed, well-thought-out counterpoint?

    3. Pop

I enjoyed Rogue One. And Solo as well.

And if there is a movie I haven’t seen, I’ll see it and make up my OWN mind.

Not that big an issue in these times.
How about focusing on gun control.
One of most serious issues of the day.

      1. Melissa

And yet you took time away from your far more important pursuits to comment on it.

    Rogue one… Bloated and terrible

Right, because the best way to start a new story is to remind people what an unsatisfying end that story will eventually have…

The inherent problem with any prequel is that the inevitable outcome of any specific character is already known. Cassian Andor can’t be in any particular danger in his series because it takes place before the show demonstrating his ultimate demise. When they came out with the prequels characters like Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin could never be put into actual danger because we knew their ending stories.
Even some of the spinoffs (ie. Mandalorian, Boba Fett…) These characters aren’t going to have a tragic demise, they are the money makers.
There are many more compelling stories that could be told where the outcome of the total character is ultimately unknown. But seriously (sarcasticly) who wants to make a show where the hero doesn’t have a chance to generate multiple sequels.

Star Wars is Dead. Lucas did NOT have ANY of the new approach in mind for Star Wars. It was supposed to revolve around the ongoing generation of the families surrounding ALL of the original characters. What it has ‘become’ instead is gutter trash with ZERO depth and LESS than Zero cultural value. Pure garbage. Star Wars is DEAD. Look at how they treated the death of Han Solo : utterly unforgiveable. A meaningless, pointless death by the hand of his pathetically stupid supposed ‘son’ who, as a character, is a JOKE. Look at what they did to Skywalker : turned him into grouchy alcoholic with ZERO presence and LESS than zero gravitas. Even the Mandalorian is in the process of being ruined. Cutting Carano just because she ‘voiced’ her own opinions which we are ALL granted the lawful right to do, and taking the helmet off of Boba Fett : RUINED the mistique of Fett. Star Wars is F-ing DEAD. No surprise, since DISNEY has long since died to the ‘Disney’ which Walt Disney had in mind. There IS no more Disney. There is only the ‘shill’ garbage pail woke front company now standing in its place. Pathetic.

    1. Melissa

Star Wars began its decline before the Disney purchase. They’re just beating the dead horse that was already dying when they bought it.

  8. Despite clearly being a diversity checklist (“Okay now, we have the white one, the black one, the Asian one and the Mexican one…anything we’ve missed..?”) I actually enjoyed Rogue One. The 4K disc transfer was incredible. Unfortunately, the 4K transfers for the original trilogy are appallingly sloppy. Thankfully you can still download the despecialised versions via your favourite torrent program.
As for Andor – welcome to the Star Wars story that absolutely no one asked for, and no one is interested in. Honestly, what’s next – Young Crix Nadine?

We’re probably going to get a whole new series about the stormtrooper who bumped his head in A New Hope. In which we’ll find out that the entire population of Alderaan was at a church picnic on the next planet when the Death Star attacked, so they all really survived.

I think it’s great to have more films or even series for star wars universe I loved the sequel I spent long time searching for movies about space couldn’t find anything that convincing till the sequel appeared looking forward for more & for more star trek too thanks

While probably being the best Star Wars Disney gas put out, Rogue One is still kind of meh. The only surprise was that they chose to actually kill off the entire cast instead of using them as a launch pad for sequels.

Instead they used them as a launch pad for a sequel if a sequel. Yay…?

And then to bring it back to theaters. Who hasn’t seen it yet? It’s been on Disney+ for years and even before that it aired in cable TV like every other weekend…

Like most Star Wars these days this feels like a memberberry money grab.

Instead they used them as a launch pad for a prequel of a prequel? Yay…? And in top of that you bring back the most uninteresting character of the entire movie’s cast of mostly-mildly-interesting characters? You could’ve done a Saw Gerrera series and that might’ve actually been neat. He’s all the “moral grey area” you could ask for but in an established character with history and motivation.. But no, we’re going to go around with this Andor guy. Without his awesome robot sidekick who was a more interesting character than Andor himself…

I wish the studio would rerelease the original films (4,5,6)in their original theatrical versions. Not those goosed up ones with the CGI that ads nothing to the films. In fact it it detracts from the story altogether.
