I go to Great Adventure once a week all summer and El Toro is my favorite coaster in the park. I rode it ten times in a row and I was fine. I rode it two times the day before the accident. I’m 60yrs old & I can handle it. People are just looking for money!!

      Agreed

Not when it hits a pothole( a section of track that is separating from the wooden structure ) as reported later on in a separate more coherent report. When a coaster is traveling at that speed and does that yeah people are gonna get hurt and why 6 Flags NJ is hiring a 3rd party company to inspect it and see if it’s repairable.

I literally went to six flags yesterday not knowing about this. Me and my friend wanted to go on El Toro but it was closed!

Anyone reading this please dont believe this bs and I’m not referring to this crappy ride and the injuries it causes but the message behind it. Making statements that this ride is like a bull and it’s trying to shake you off. the beginning article opens up with a ridiculous statement about how bullfighting is an ancient this and that and how wonderful it is.. etc.. bunch of fabricated BS!

Bulls are nothing like what they’re depicted to be. If you ever go to an animal rescue go visit the bulls. Theyre the most gentle animals that you will ever meet in person! Bulls are extremely calm and gentle and yes huge and yes they hover over you and it’s kind of scary just to stand there and be next to them but they’re sweet and gentle they literally lean over so you can pet them! they do not do anything that they are depicted to do! the only reason why they act out the way they do during rodeos is because they’re kept in these really huge segregated warehouses in the dark. they have chilies and yes I mean pepper chilies shoved in their eyeballs, Vaseline shoved up their noses and spikes put around their heels so they have to stand in pain!

they’re not fed and they’re not given any water and they’re left in total darkness and isolation! So why do they do this you ask? Because it leaves an animal without any of its senses… hungry for a few days by itself what do you think happens when they let an animal like that out of its shed when it’s rodeo day?

well they come out disoriented, hungry, and happy to be out! The one thing they don’t come out as is angry or aggressive just so happy to get out they buck around!

because the chilies come out of their eyes vaseline comes out of their nose that can hear and see they’re not in the dark anymore not all covered up in ankle spikes come off of their and they’re just so relieved and happy to get out!

can you imagine living like that and being stuck in a rodeo and they’re treating you that way? so when you come out what do you think you’re gonna act like?

No only are these animals are used as a commodity and they are carted around as if they are not even living beings! they just just go from one horrible rodeo to another to be treated like garbage tortured and abused for human entertainment selfish selfish human entertainment! it’s disgusting and I still cannot believe it’s not outlawed! it is nothing short of animal abuse!

And if you don’t believe me go look it up how animals are treated before rodeo this is what they want people to believe that they’re coming out angry and bucking and they just do this naturally out of nowhere it’s a bunch of BS and this ride is based on the notion that bulls act this way when they don’t act Petting zoos, animal shows, breeding grounds… disgusting! All this equates to animal abuse! When will selfish humans wake TF up? All these places much like sea world use animals a entertainment props! These are glorified prisons for animals! Abuse comes in many forms and not just through physically abusing someone but mental and social as well! You visit these places you are promoting and supporting this cycle of abuse. Animals are not entertainment props and they don’t belong on captivity but they’re own natural habitat. I hope Rodris are shut down forever! My daughter in exotic wild animal specialist that holds a PHD in animal sciences and is highly against places like this for hood reason. Please don’t give them your money to the selfish fools that own and operate this place if you don’t support animal abuse. this way because nasty selfish cruel humans put them in this position they treat them in such a way that this is how they react when they won out of their prisons that they were put in by nasty humans that have no heart and No compassion! remember this before you decide to go to a rodeo your money you’re supporting and promoting Animal abuse!

      Ok

Dude, it’s the name of a ride. I work with snakes but don’t lose it over a ride being called Cobra’s Curse or The Python.

He should have looked at the names of the parks in each city to know some mentioned only have the water park left and some don’t even carry the six flag name. The frontier city in OKC was bad 25 years ago I can’t imagine it improved. He didn’t even mention Arlington (not calling it Dallas doesn’t count, DFW maybe but not Dallas). If you can’t fact check about a company with a quick internet search then just write about the 1 problematic coaster.

Interesting. I love El toro but a few years back me and my wife were on it. The coaster broke down when we were at the very top of the chain lift where there is no staircase. We were stuck for about 5 mins and the entire train was joking if we’d ever get off. Finally the speakers stated they had to reset the system and the brakes as well. Once it engaged it was way faster than any ride I’d ever had on it. The entire train was talking about how ridiculous the ride felt after we got off. It actually felt too fast like the carts would come off the tracks.

Poorly written article. Where does it state what caused the injuries. Not worth writing about if that’s all.

  8. Mich

I rode el Toro when it first opened and hurt my neck/back.
We had to leave the park. I couldn’t turn my head and every bump on the car ride home killed my back. I never rode a wood coaster again.

  9. Brice

They keep talking about people being injured and write a whole article about it with only a sentence describing back pain. Can’t we get more details? Like what caused this injury?

  10. Rhi

San Francisco and Los Angeles are incorrect cities. Why not just list the actual cities that they are in? Or say Northern California and Southern California? Because neither of these cities have the theme parks. In fact in both situations they are about an hour +, of driving, from its respective actual location.

  11. TheARGblue

Six Flags Over Texas is in Arlington not Houston.

  12. Tiffany

There is no six flags in Chicago!! It’s in Gurnee Illinois which is about an hour away from Chicago. Moron writer just pulling randoms. If you’re unsure of where the parks are located then just name the states duh.

Where is the Six Flags in Washington DC??

    1. Jimmy

      No Jackson NJ

  14. Jimmy

It was in Jackson NJ and its about time they closed that death trap down. I hated that headache ride. Went on it once or twice as a kid then never again.

El Toro is my favorite ride at Six Flags Great Adventure in NJ. Last year, it was closed when I visited. This year it was open. I visited the week prior to this incident and it was NOT the same El Toro! The ride was very choppy and almost painful…I couldn’t wait for it to end! I was so surprised and between grunts of pain while riding, I was literally yelling, “what the hell happened?” El Toro was always fast with lots of twists and turns, just like a bull, as the name suggests. That is what made it such a thrill to ride! Despite its speed and movement, the ride was always smooth…a huge advantage over other wooden coasters. Sadly, the coaster must have fallen into disrepair during the pandemic, as there were certainly signs of lapsing care observed elsewhere throughout the park. The Jersey Devil was amazing and my new favorite! It’s definitely a consideration we all need to take when visiting a theme park since the start of the pandemic, due to financial burdens and availability of resources. Rides need meticulous evaluations daily to keep the public safe. We are also essentially putting our faith in young adults to be attentive and exercise caution when operating rides. With such high turnover, detailed training isn’t guaranteed. I’m glad the riders in the incident weren’t seriously injured, though lasting effects are expected, if not physically, then emotionally for sure. Stay safe out there!

    That was a great ride.

The last few times I rode El Toro, it was rough. The banked turn back towards the station is wicked. You need to remain limber and go with the flow. If you’re too rigid, I could see where one could suffer neck & back injuries

Yes, I rode this coaster 1x!
Never again!!! Because they have to push that bar down on your legs so tight! It hurts, then you take off like a raging bull! Nope!!!! Give me Nitro!!!😍
