Umm, she doesn’t have to call, you can book everything online and it works fairly well overall.

She said she has difficulty booking online. I live in the US and have had problems as well in the past.

Not a non-story. That is the way people ate treated these days at Disney throughout the company. Walt wouldn’t stand for this but things are now upside down. You can’t keep doing this Bob Paycheck. It’s gonna come back and bite you, hard.
Don’t expect to keep going back and getting different results. That’s insanity. Time for woke Disney to go broke. Since revenge is a dish best served cold.

OMG…You sound like a Karen. Nobody made her sit on the phone for two hours. She could have done all of that online. The entitlement…smh

I would hope that someone that shares my name would be able to read. It states right in the article that she can not access the website to do anything online from where she is and that she has to call via phone.

If you have a VPN , overseas accounts can access the website.

Karen’s attack people for having a different opinion, like you just did. So, you are the same as her, congrats!

Overheard a lady who claimed she was on the phone 5 hours trying to renew her pass. But it was too early to renew her tier. So no joy. Read the instructions, people.

DVC has really gone down hill since I joined in 2005. Our last vacation was cut short because of a “glitch” in their system. If it wasn’t for the staff a Boardwalk we would not have had anywhere to stay. DVC didn’t help or care.

“woke Disney” lol. You mean the Disney Company that isn’t following in the footsteps of it’s racist antisemitic founder? Everyone knows Walt’s story. Disney standing up for civil rights has absolutely nothing to do with the fact the current CEO is a complete failure at his job. This all boils down to a computer problem, they happen. She could have just hung up and called back later.

    4. My last visit was it in mid 2018. The monorails didn’t have air conditioning, the Polynesian was a pit, every other ride we went on broke down. The only thing we enjoyed were the restaurants! From what I’ve heard they’re kind of crappy now too!😜

Been a DVC member since 2003 & have exclusively booked everything online. I can’t remember the last time I needed to actually call.

Do you also live in New Zealand like the OP?

      1. Ella

I live in Australia and I have been a member since 2000 – I do all my bookings online and when I have an issue I easily call and have it sorted. DVC is not the problem.

This sounds like user error to me. I’ve never heard of anyone not being able to book something online because they live in another country this is 2022 not 1992. Her also saying “rules we didn’t know about” 100% guarantee everything was spelled out in the terms and conditions and you didn’t read them. This is ridiculous. Disney does not owe you a phone bill. What’s next? Disney doesn’t owe you anything. Articles like this are annoying and people are always looking for anything to complain about these days. if you hate it so much why are you still a dvc member?

We’ve been membered since 1996. There are some disadvantages for those who do not live within the states. However each time we have purchased a contract our vacation club advisor has explained in detail some of the things to expect if you don’t have Internet or you need to call from outside the US. My suggestion would be that she sell back to Disney the points that she purchased. They re-chain the right of first refusal.

I’m so sorry about the New Zealand member’s terrible experience. I understand her reaching out on Twitter, but DVC isn’t set up to respond to complaints via Twitter. There actually IS a possibility for resolution to her problem, only thing is she must write to the Complaints Resolution Team. DVC does have an elite group of problem-solvers who have the authority & leeway to satisfy these more egregious snafus. The only way for members to benefit from this team, however, is to write them. It’s DVC’s job to respond by calling her back and working to give her satisfaction after such a bad experience. I regret that it’s another hassle for the DVC member, but at this time it’s the only path to satisfaction that is available.

I had an issue and it was handled through email..

We have been members since 1993. I’m sorry but I do think that she has a valid complaint. I have called DVC for things that I can’t resolve online (yes, there are some) and will only hold if they say the wait will be less than an hour although it usually is more and I often get disconnected anyway. I called continuously for 5 hours on two phones to try and book the last member cruise. It was always busy except for a few times when it dialed and then hung up on me while I was on hold. When I did finally reach someone, the cruise had sold out. I feel that in her case, someone from Disney needs to reach out and go over things with her until she understands and is satisfied or take back her purchase if it just won’t work for her. If some of you feel this is being entitled, it is because that you are too young to remember the way Disney used to be; bending over backwards for it’s guests. Just because it is all that you know doesn’t mean that it hasn’t degraded. It very much has but costs there keep going up. Disney shouldn’t be holding the great experiences that it was know for only for those willing to pay for them.

Over the past decade, I have seen Disney become more and more greedy. They seem to want your money but not you. This is one of many complaints I’ve seen recently. There was a big pass holder class action lawsuit because the owners of the most expensive pass weren’t being let in while day tickets did. A lot of perks now cost money. I’ve seen several people who complain about DVC. It was originally sort of cool. Now DVC is more spending for less. Disney is successfully pricing me out now so I just go to one of its competitors

  10. Lee

Disney has followed the world realizing people will pay for things that used to be comped. Corporate greed has taken over Disney just like it did Vegas, the guest used to be king, now it’s the dollar. I have found if you’re patient & do your homework u can find a practical solution & get satisfaction.

  11. Clarice

Disney has really become a unhappy place. The prices are so high that you can’t even afford to take. Mr Walt Disney built it for the family affordable prices affordable food and free parking try that Disney. I wouldn’t advise anybody to go there it’s disgusting.
