You bunch of pansies need to get a life. Who cares what it looks like. A gun is a gun, no matter what it looks like. A gun can no more control its appearance than it can shoot without someone pulling the trigger. So, thank a gun owner for standing up for our 2nd Amendment rights. Because when the crap hits the fan, like if we are invaded by some foreign power, like China, you’re going to be wishing you had a friend with firepower to protect your whiny butt. I am American, I am NRA, I am a Patriot, and, if it ever came to it, I would protect everyone around me, including you, no matter what your opinion about whichever firearm I have on me at the time. That’s how us Patriots roll, so, we would appreciate you not attacking us for our guns. Go after the mental illness of those using our tools of protection as tools of terror. They are your enemy, not us.

      Preach brother!

Are you f#%king serious?! This entire thing is ridiculous! First of all, Star Wars is Sci Fi folks, it’s NOT real. A lot of Lucas vehicles and weapons where based in WWI and WWII. Secondly, the idiot who claimed he’s a proud American, is a delusional kool-aid drinking mindless sheep, who hides behind the 2nd amendment. If China or Russia ever invades and they won’t, only delusional idiots who watched way too many 80s action movies believe that. His tiny guns will be no match for an advancing modern army. Lastly, both sides need to take a step back. Overreacting by both side never leads to anything productive.

    2. LeoGuru2000

The comments have nothing to do with gun rights. It’s about how a scifi story set in a galaxy far far away that is thousands of years ahead of us in technology has people using the most recognized real world rifle from our world, a riffle developed a long time ago by our own measure if time. It’s a red flag that those leading the show didn’t take it seriously.

I’m a 2a absolutist and even I can see this has nothing to do with gun rights. When you fly off the handle about 2a when its not applicable you make all of us who support it look like whack jobs.

      1. Ed Ross

If that was the main complaint I’d shrug along. I wouldn’t agree, because why wouldn’t a universe where a wookie has a crossbow that shoots explosion lazers, also have something that looks like a gun in it, but no biggie. However this is clearly not just about flavor, this is a culture war thing.

        1. Han Solo

Sounds like you have a problem with Wookies?

      2. Maddest Hatter

You’re going to be horrified when you find out what stormtrooper guns are..

      3. Irrationally Angry

Was there any outrage about the Cycler Rifle when Battlefront released in 2015?
        I didn’t think so.

    3. Phil Davis

haha, yep but they have no problem with a Death Star that blows up whole planets. Go figure.

      1. Obi-Wan

Why laugh? Do you know what it’s like feeling billions of voices silenced?

    4. R3

You very clearly missed the point. People aren’t complaining that it’s a gun, they are complaining because it lacks a Star Wars aesthetic.

AKs are far to recognizable to be used in a fictional, alien universe. This is a simple concept and if they managed to screw this up, it calls into question what other, more complicated things that they’ve potentially screwed up. Hence the backlash.

      1. Carl

Star wars fans are the worst!! Get over it. It’s all fake. So who cares?!

      2. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

What about all the recognizable AR15s in the original? Not all firearms look so similar that they aren’t recognizable in Star Wars

    5. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

How can you be a NRA member and a 2A supporter? All they do is negotiate out rights away. A gun owner didn’t make this happen. Its just a prop gun like the AR15s in the original trilogy. Take a chill pill, bro. Youre going way too hard rn.

They’re not attacking the existence of the gun doofus. They’re attacking the laziness of the production staff for not tweaking it to give it the “sci fi” aspect like has been always done in the past. JFC, you’re the type of douchebag that gives the anti-gunners the ammo for their mission. Do everyone who supports 2A a favor. Shut up.

    8. Tom

      Amen

    9. Miriam

Seems like someone needs to get their mental health checked lmao

  2. Bob Bob

Three posts with a couple of responses… This is news…

Star Wars does have weapons called slugthrowers that resemble many firearms from our galaxy. There were many different styles and shapes. Fun fact, when the Mandalorians used to fight the Jedi before the fall of Mandalore they used slugthrowers on the Jedi becaus they could deflect a blaster shot, but a bullet would turn to molten magma and hit the Jedi because it couldn’t be deflected.

    1. Kathleen Kennedy

Thank you for your comments. We need more diversity and LGBTQ influence in Star Wars.

      1. J.J. Abrams

I like where this is going, let’s discuss this over a.couple of Soy Lattes.

    2. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

      Slugthrowers are shotguns not rifles.

  4. Kyle

An actress just HAD to describe this as a TRUMPIAN world. Even if you hated the man, this business that he was the anti-christ is signs of insanity. And it’s this crap that drives me away from programming. As soon as I found out what kind of people are involved, it cuts into my eagerness to watch. Just keep your opinions within your circle of friends and don’t go public with hate speech. Because it cuts both ways. It’s hate speech

    1. Mel

Perhaps you should learn what hate speech is before throwing the term around. Because criticizing a former leader isn’t hate speech. Calling a fascist a fascist isn’t hate speech.

“Hate speech” is a legal term and doesn’t mean “everything someone doesn’t like.”

And I’m terms of the show being anti-Trumpian, Star Wars has always been an anti-fascist parable, and in that sense is opposed to what Trump is selling.

      1. LeoGuru2000

Perhaps you should do a little more research yourself before going off. There is no legal definition of hate speech. Let me repeat that for the easily triggered Authoritarian Leftists and stage 4/5 Trump Derangement Syndrome victims, there is NO legal definition FOR HATE SPEECH in the US law. That said there are Authoritarian Left leaning institutions that pose as being legitimate unbiased groups that try to convince people, especially the NPCs on the Left that there is a legal definition of hate speech and its often anything the Left disagrees with but that’s the closest thing to a legal definition of hate speech.

        1. Triggered Leftist

Oh my God’s I’m like totally offended. I have to put down my soyblatte and soy burger to hop on Teitter and tell everyone how upset I am. You racist! Now I need to schedule a kumbucha enema.

      2. Will

If Trump was the Fascist you claim him to be, he’d still be in power. The only thing proven about him is what’s been known for decades. He’s an arsehole.
Star Wars isn’t about anti-fascism or anti-communism or anti-feudalism. It’s swords & sorcery. It’s Lord of the Rings in space. Saying that it’s anything else is as stupid as when Ted Cruz said Captain Kirk would be a Republican. And to quote William Shatner from his SNL skit, “GET A LIFE!!”

  5. Shane P Dalton

Today’s fans are toxic. Real Star Wars fans know that they use real guns and modify them to look different. Yes it may be an AK format, but it’s not a flat out AK 47 in the movie. People need to stop, yall try and ruin everything. Han Solos a modified German Mauser C96 semi auto pistol. Din Djarins pistol is a Bergmann 1894. So just stop it.

    1. LeoGuru2000

BS they’re they’re toxic. There angry and frustrated because of what has been done to the brand by the hateful feminist Kathleen Kennedy, a talentless hack who got where she did riding the tail coats of men with real talent. It is George Lucas’s fault for hiring that evil witch as Lucas CEO and requiring Disney to keep her as CEO but he was also fooled by her believing she would protect Star Wars, not turn it into her own political platform to push that societal cancer called third wave feminism.

As for the weapons in Star Wars. yes they’ve often, but not always been baseball on real world weapons but that’s based on and not an exact copy off. This is a scifi story in a galaxy far far away set thousands of years ahead of us and we’re supposed to not be pulled out if the immerse story when we see then using the most recognized riffle in our own history looking just as we would see it used in our world?

      1. Nox

Your argument makes zero sense. Every gun in Star Wars, with exception of the prequels, uses ww2 guns as a base. Mauser c96. The rebel rifle is a stg44( and later an ar-15). It’s nothing new, it doesn’t take away from the story. It has nothing to do with real world politics and . It’s what Star Wars has literally always done.

    2. R3

They use them as a base. Not use them as they are in their entirety.

    3. Will

Sorry bud, but that AK has NOT been modified. Paint and stickers are not modifications.

  6. Ed Ross

If you really care about passing gun control laws, then it’s time to shut up. Like most Americans, I have a middle-ground stance about gun control that is always evolving. In other words, I’m one of millions of potentially persuadable voters. I become a lot less persuadable when you validate right-wing paranoia about you by over-reaching and trying to sanitize my fiction for me. So if achieving your policy goals is really something that you believe matters, then pick your battles and find something else to virtue signal over.

    1. Palpatine

      Yes, listen to Ed Ross.

      Turn in your guns
      I AM THE SENATE

  7. Shane Michaels

I was gonna say this is the stupidest article I’ve read in a while.

But it seems to be perfect for the target audience of utter nonces circling like hawks over this culture war.

    1. Patrick

I’d say the most concerning thing I’ve seen in the comments so far is the alarming number of people that can’t spell rifle properly. Ffs.

      1. Doug

Haha so true! I like to pretend that they also pronounce the word as they spell it, with a soft “i” to rhyme with “wiffle” ball.
It makes reading their arguments much more entertaining.
Now pass me my riFFle honey!

    2. Will

Sorry bud, but that AK has NOT been modified. Paint and stickers are not modifications.

  8. Matt Harris

What a sensationalist piece. Fans are not “furious” over the AK-47-esque weapon, apart from the sliver of the Fandom that is insistent on hating all things Disney Star Wars. The trailer has been widely celebrated in the weapon is generally noted as a curiosity, nothing more.

    1. Rob

But a non-controversy wouldn’t draw clicks, so here we are.

      1. J

Exactly. I stated the same thing about the new low this site had sunk to in stirring the pot for revenue generating clicks when they posted the “People’s rights are disappearing Star Wars Trumpian” article a few days ago. They stir the pot, pointless hysterical arguments break out in the comments, they laugh all the way to the bank. Unfortunately, despite me posting that comment it was removed each time I posted it. Apparently stating that was a problem that I was censored for.

  9. Michael

But no one is upset about Han Solos Mauser Modell C96 or the Imperial stormtrooper Sterling Mark 4 submachine gun?

  10. TehGrifter111

In case y’all didn’t know: Trump is q, and also a woman. Or trans. He’s a transmorpher politician in disguise.

Don’t let that tranny grab unto my pappy. And let by gones be gone by the time another fascist tranny gets to take this country by the joystick and proceed to execute a TOD on freedom.

  11. Jeff

I’m pretty sure Disney sends out theses stories that “Twitter attacked us” so conservatards get to rage against Twitter which isn’t PC it’s woke so now the right wing defends star wars. .
    PS Andor looks good

    1. Jack Sparrow

You sound obsessed. Take a breath.

  12. Rob

No one, and I mean no one but a very small group of people are furious,. especially not Star.Wars
Fans. If you’re that triggered by the side of a gun and you probably should be watching a movie that has guns

  13. Rob

No one, and I mean no one but a very small group of people are furious,. especially not Star.Wars
Fans. If you’re that triggered by the sight of a gun and you probably shouldn’t be watching a movie that has guns

  14. CTucker

Start wars has traditionally included guns with physical bullets in them ever since Timothy Zahn included them in his original trilogy with Thrawn. Instead of caning them guns, they’re called slug throwers.

    1. CTucker

      *Star Wars not Start Wars…

    2. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

Slugthrowers are more like shot guns but I don’t this AK was supposed to be one. It’s just another star wars universe energy blaster like the AR15s used in the originals.

  15. Pickle

Next trailer is gona have the Stormtroopers pulling up in an Escalade

    1. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

      Why?

  16. David k

Star wars will always have its toxic fans. Fans who nothing better to than complain complain complain because they feel important. Such a trivial thing to complain about.

    1. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

Well, some of us complain about continuity and storyline issues, not prop issues. Unless of course if the prop has no business in Star wars lore.

  17. Mason

Can we also talk about on how the weapons that the Wookies use look like muskets and crossbows while the dark saber looks like a katana sword?

    1. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

      No. Why does that matter?

  18. Te Sol'yc Mand'alor

Man, these sequel fans have to be the most idiotic fans. Since the beginning of Star Wars, we’ve been looking at highly modified AR-15s and now a plain AK-47 is an issue???

  19. Jack Sparrow

Oh noes! The incels are wound up over prop choices.
