In a TikTok video shared by DisneyWorldTom, a Guest is seen facing Spaceship Earth wearing a light-up backpack programmed to sync to the second with the flagship attraction’s light show.

The video posted to this unofficial @waltdisneyworldparks account has been liked more than three thousand times so far, and is linked back to the backpacks creator, Nathanbacon87.

Doubling as EPCOT’s signature park symbol, Spaceship Earth allows guests to “travel through time and explore the remarkable history of human communication from the Stone Age to the computer age” per the ride’s description. The attraction is open to all ages.

Nathanbacon87 received such a positive response to his innovation that he replicated the product and started a shop on Etsy. He also took to Reddit to share a bit about his creative process.

On his shop, aptly named SpaceshipEarthBags, the bag creator shared the following update about future sales:

RESTOCKING EARLY/MID AUGUST Thank you all so much for your interest in my bags! I just ordered supplies for 11 backpacks and I plan to get to work on them as soon as I’m done visiting the mouse 🙂 No pre-sales or waitlists at the moment.

Spaceship Earth’s show recently changed to a special presentation just in time for EPCOT’s 2022 Food & Wine Festival. Walt Disney Imagineering Chief Portfolio Executive Zach Riddley shared the news on Instagram this week, posting the following:

Our Lighting Design team at Walt Disney Imagineering continues to explore the artistic and technical possibilities of the new Spaceship Earth lighting. For our newest limited time sequence, we were inspired by the vibrant colors and strong movement in the 1991 Walt Disney Animation Studios classic, “Beauty and the Beast,” and infused both into the programming of the show. Be on the lookout for some fun subtle easter eggs such as rising champagne bubbles and the multicolor spotlights from the finale of the song, plus a special tri-color celebration to France, the setting and inspiration of this tale as old as time.

It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you to “Be Our Guest” for an amazing new sequence inspired by the Academy-Award winning song just in time for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival.

For the music, we always enjoy the chance to put an EPCOT twist on the shows we create for Spaceship Earth. The lyrics from this song as known by heart to millions – I know I can recite them by heart every time the song comes on, and I’m sure I am note alone… By blending both the original English and French versions of Be Our Guest (known in French as “C’est la Fete”) we create a unique cross-cultural experience that’s a spectacle in any and all languages.

With the SpaceshipEarthBags owner teasing additional show incorporations for his product, time will tell if we’ll start to see Be Our Guest-inspired backpacks around the parks.
