We’ve been to the original cake bake in Indianapolis. While it’s good it’s insanely expensive. I can only imagine what a piece of cake will cost at WDW. At least $30 for. Wedge of cake.

You’re not kidding! Being Disney, it will already be expensive.
I am curious how they will fare against being so close to the Boulangerie Patisserie.

I don’t think many tears will be shed for ESPN.

I am overjoyed by the removal of the ESON Club! Because of the hordes of noisy, rude sports fans it attracted, it never belonged in this charming and sedate resort. Plus, I hated the way it cluttered the parking lots, makibg it extremely difficult to park at the resort! So, I say GOOD RIDDANCE to the Club!!!

I could see ESPN Zone at the old Downtown Disney West Side (if it didn’t compete with the Planet Hollywood), but on the Boardwalk, it needed something a little more…atmospheric.

I am glad to see they are renovating the Boardwalk – I have stated at the Boardwalk many times and love it! As for the ESPN Club I sm one if the “rude sports fans” (not really but comment made by previous person) I did go to the club with my husband (prior to his death) but won’t miss it!! As a previous DVC owner, I love the Boardwalk and look forward to staying there when it is complete!! I love Disney!!!

Another rude sports fan here (reference above). Just what Disney needs is another “sweets” shop. You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a some kind of “sweets” shop or ice cream vendor at WDW. Can’t wait to try to squeeze past the waddling masses waiting to get in and dodge the the flotilla of scooters racing past to get their “sweets”. Instead of the Cake Bake Shop maybe call it the Type 2 Diabetes shop or The High Cholesterol/High Blood Pressure Shop or the Heart Disease/Sleep Apnea Shop. RIP ESPN Club, we’ll miss the noisy fans cheering for their favorite team and the beer, French Fries and burgers they served. Bartender, I’ll have another before I go to the gym to work out. Something you’ll never hear in a “sweets shop”.

The ESPN Club was the one eatery that I had yet visited on the Boardwalk. No big loss!
It’s a bummer that’s it’s being replaced by a bakery. Should have been another eatery.

Ron, I agree with you. We don’t eat perfect all the time but try not to eat sweets 24/7. Sugar and junk food all the time. What’s wrong with something that would appeal to everybody.

As a past castmember, during any big sporting event I ALWAYS referred guest to go off property to the close by “Miller’s Ale House”( 2 of them) or “Twin Peaks”! Dad’s gotta get away from “All-Disney” on their visit!!!🤣😅😆😂

I like Twin Peaks. If you squint real hard you can imagine the servers outfits being very Disneyesque, especially if you like just “a little” plaid and denim! One doesn’t have to look far to understand why it’s called “Twin Peaks”.

I lost all respect for WDW..Greatest memories of my childhood…1,000..5 nights polynesian, food plan, admission to park (but purchased tickets.) I believe in progress…start another park…lower your prices..corporate greed…walt disney is rolling over in his gave..also the park is fifty. Cast members are staff..can’t enjoy the parks without smartphones…rides breaking down…disgraceful

ESPN was my favorite place to pee. RIP.

    1. Tlaw

Joe – I am going to make some Chepak urinal cakes (his face printed on the scent block) so you have a new place to pee on.
Since its called a cake, maybe they can offer it in the new sweet shop.

  11. Disney’s wokeness is ruining the entire experience. It’s sad that although espn is no loss with their celebrating of “kneeling” instead of standing for the anthem. It’s BS. There is no way that espn should even still be on the air. I feel bad for Walt Disney’s legacy that is going down in flames. Why another “cake eatery”? Why not something that fits better in the beachy theme? Seems like everywhere you turn its just one big shop with a few rides thrown around you have to walk long distances to to wait in even longer lines. A family can’t go and enjoy the characters, rides as everything is “woke’. B’raer rabbit and bear are some of the most beloved characters. Zippity do dah, zippity day, my oh my it’s a wonderful day. Guess that’s “racists” now. God bless Walt for his good intentions, there’s no way he could have seen this coming.

So, what will become of the Boardwalk Bakery? That place was great for grabbing a quick breakfast bite or pastry that was reasonably priced. Loved Boardwalk Pizza next door to grab a slice too! Sitting outside on a nice day was always pleasant there. This new place will just be another overpriced venue that most people cannot afford. Always liked the fun of Jellyrolls, but I always thought the Atlantic Dance Hall didn’t fit in here. Disney could have planned this area better.

Sold my beach club timeshare. Will never ever set foot in there property again. They have destroyed everything uncle Walt built. Wholeness and greed destroyed a ver special place!
