I am not sure why a Disney ride breaking down is considered news. I have been on Alice In Wonderland and Peter Pan’s Flight when they broke down. Even got a back injury on Peter Pan’s Flight because of the breakdown. Rides at Disney theme parks break down all the time, this is a common occurrence especially now that Disney is not maintaining the rides.
The ride stopping is not always mechanical. Most of the time it is actually guest related or computer sensors dont agree with eachother which sometimes will stop a ride from working.
I actually got stuck on Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith we were about to complete the loop. About 10 minutes last the cart was moved to a flat position and the lights came on. Cast members came about 45 minutes later and we were unlocked from our strapped seats and escorted back stage. I have most of it on video. Sure you have to be patient because cast members need to figure out what is wrong first before attempting to release the guests from the seats. To prevent injury to the guest and to the cast members. I understand the panic and fear but trying to remain calm is the best thing you can do.
