Completely disgusting and security would have been very happy to escort the spitter out of the park as they take their guest satisfaction very seriously.
Unless you are in a wheelchair, or walkin behind a walker. YOU ARE NOT DISABLED!! That spitting person viewed these (so-called disabled) people walking normally. Good for him!! I am sick of fake disabled people!!
There’s more disabilities that prevent people from standing in line. I am highly suspectible to skin cancer due to meds and cannot be standing in the sun for long periods of time. There’s other reasons besides being in a wheelchair as well. It’s not like they are getting cuts as they still have to wait for their allotted time which should match there line wait time.
You are an idiot, there are multiple disabilities that cannot be seen. When a person is day in and day out in constant pain, that clarifies as a physical disability. I have a dislocated knee cap that constantly hurts and I have to use a special brace to get around. ALL people that are different than others deserve a fun day at the park without idiots criticizing their needs
The persons anger stems from the frustration that has built up about witing in extremely long lines. I have seen in Disney , a family of 3 people exchanging turns in a wheel chair so they could use the disability lines. Another person in Disney get put in the back of a boat because of her disability jump over the seats to get to the seat she wants to sit in. I have seen other instances too that show the individual who has obviously no disability to speak of feigning a disability to get on faster. So people , when they see this become numb to any real disability because of the things that they see. Some even can present a danger to others like the time I was nearly run over by someone on a scooter that nearly ran me over on a bus they were getting on to and I was sitting on a seat. Much of this is frustrating to the non disabled population.
Do you know how many places I don’t go or CAN’T go due to my “unseen” disability. I use a walker when I feel better but I NEED to use a scooter to get around much of the time. Most of the time, I’m stuck in the house. I can’t stand, walk, sit, sleep without pain. I hate people who fake disability. They borrow their grandmother’s disability placard and take parking spaces away from those of us who need them.
You really have no understanding about disabilities. Until you or a family member becomes disabled; which I pray doesn’t happen; I feel very sorry for you
You are a real piece of work. I have multiple disabilities that cannot be seen. I have a fracture in my lower back that prevents me from standing for long periods of time, can’t climb stairs, can’t walk more than 100ft. You don’t know what it’s like to go from a strong heathy woman to this. You ought to be grateful you’re not disabled instead of pissing on others and talking out of your a$$.
You are a poorly educated, vicious idiot. As a healthcare professional for over 35 years, let me state clearly and emphatically that DISABILITIES COME IN ALL FORMS AND MANY CANNOT BE SEEN. Not all people need wheelchairs or walkers – PTSD war victims cannot tolerate the claustrophobic, loud, or restrictive confinements of some lines; neuropathy victims cannot stand extended lengths of time, and those of us with degenerative joint disease are limited as well. There are thousands of debilitating physical and mental issues than cause limitations – IGNORANCE, SUCH AS YOURS, IS NOTHING BUT SELF HATRED TURNED ON ANOTHER PERSON WITH THE GOAL OF HURTING OTHERS TO MAKE YOU FEEL GOOD. Autistic and mentally disabled Individuals also do not use wheelchairs not do all amputees!!! GET AN EDUCATION, GET SOME COMMON DECENCY – YOU TOO CAN BECOME DISABLED WITHOUT CHOICE AT ANY GIVEN TIME!!! It’s people like you who give humans a bad name!
You r so wrong. My niece has type 1 diabetes. The sun and standing can drop her sugar fast. We still have to wait the same time as you, ya know. We just don’t have to physically stand in the que. While “waiting ” for a ride her blood sugar crashed and she fainted but luckily we were in a restaurant and were able to get her balanced. Had we been trapped somewhere in a crowded que… who knows. She didn’t want this pass but we forced her. She needs this pass. And as a young teen she was so embarrassed, they hate to be “different ” . Believe me, should would trade her disease and happily get rid of her fast pass.
Hi Tony, I’m the original poster of this on reddit and wanted to reach out to you personally to let you know you’re an idiot.
Disabilities of all shapes and sizes aren’t only about wheelchairs and walkers.
How about this, we change positions ok? You go ahead and be the middle car in a 4 car pileup where your neck, shoulders, ribs, hips MOVE INCHES instead of BREAKING as they would for most people because of your joint disorder. because they moved you are now in pain everyday and have life long injuries that give you migraines and tension headaches if you stand for too long. Does that seem like a disability to you ?
You still want to switch? Or do you truly believe because of my disability I either a. dont deserve to enjoy a themepark or 2. should have to get migrianes in order to do so? Get a grip, tony
I am physically disabled, I have access to this advantage but have never used it for anyone but myself and immediate family, usually, two of my kids. One who is also autistic. It disgusts me when I see others using it for non family members. It is definitely abused by many to get large parties past the lines at many theme parks. More than once at Universal Parks we witnessed what appeared to be perfectly healthy teenage athletes (picture a full high school soccer team, parents and coaches) given disabled access to rides where the person with the disability didn’t even enter the queue. We had to wait behind this group more then once on a visit this past spring. Had to be 30-40 people in the group.
I too am disabled and I too have been behind those types of groups despite the guidelines saying 6 members maximum. I was attacked by a patient 2 years ago, I have had multiple surgeries and cannot stand nor walk for more than 15 minutes at a time and cannot climb stairs. I have waited behind large groups with a person who “twisted an ankle” or “wore an ace bandage” on their knee. I have been treated horribly by some workers and other guests. I have started taking their pictures and posting them on social media and giving them to security and law enforcement. People are just downright nasty these days.
I don’t understand why this is a story .. this happens everyday to all sorts of people/ minorities. Truly it is disgusting but the article makes it seem like something the park did was wrong. The park can’t be held liable for the actions of it’s guests. I will agree that those guests reacted poorly and disgustingly and if possible should be talked to and perhaps ejected. What they witnessed was a group of people who they couldn’t tell were disabled get ahead of a line they have probably been waiting hours in. It’s frustrating for sure. But in my opinion not a story that needed to be told.
Actually it is a story that needs told. These behaviors are called “assaults” and they are illegal and should not be occurring anywhere or anytime and certainly not in an area designed for fun and enjoyment. EDUCATION IS THE BEST WAY TO COMBAT IGNORANCE – MAYBE 1 POST COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE and maybe it could bring these attacks out into the forefront. AS FOR THE WAITING COMMENT – DISABLED PATRONS ALSO WAIT, SOMETIMES LONGER, THEY ARE JUST REQUIRED TO WAIT ELSEWHERE !!!!!! A mind is a terrible thing to waste, sadly it is done daily!
hi, I’m the OP of this post and I agree, it should not be an article. if this company wanted to interview me they could have actually reached out to me instead of getting cheap clicks through my reddit post.
With that being said theme parks DO need to educate their guests on the passes so that people like the guy who spit on me and yourself wont believe that its ever okay to assault someone becaue you dont understand their disability
Nah, weather you are disabled or not you should have to wait. Your time is no more valuable than someone else who has paid and will only be able to experience half of the park. Suffer in silence or dont go to the parks, lazy asses
You seem to have missed how this works. They still had to wait, they just didn’t have to do it STANDING in a line that could make their condition worse. It did not let them get on the ride any sooner, just made it easier for them to be able to wait somewhere more comfortable for them.
You are a total jackass and you are ignorant as well as stupid. Disability passes do not skirt the lines, jump lines, or decrease the wait – the pass is the same as a delayed return time – people still have to wait and sometimes longer just not in the same manner or location. If the wait time is 60 min then the disability pass holders will also wait 60 min or even longer. Only 1 ride can be scheduled at a time!!! Disabled people are not “lazy” but evidently people like you are just stupid condescending egotistical bigots!!!
I suffer from a disability very similar to what was described in this article and I can tell you, without hesitation, any person suffering from such a disability would NEVER ride a roller coaster. I was a roller coaster junkie up until the time of my accident. Loved the adrenaline rush. However, coasters toss you around, sometimes violently and my Dr. made it clear that roller coasters and the like we’re a thing of the past. Someone with such a disability could easily reaggravate the injury. Therefore, in my humble opinion, this individual was nowhere near disabled enough to warrant getting a disabled pass in the first place.
hi TJ – I’m the OP of this post and I am okayed by my doc to ride coasters. plus, its up to me not you or a park what i do with my life and my body. just because of your personal experience with your injury doesnt mean you know a damn thing about me or my body or what i can and cannot handle. people who shouldnt drink go to bars and nobody takes their drink away. If on occasion I want to enjoy coasters you bet I will, and that doenst mean someone has the right to spit on me…
Hi, I’m the OP of this post on reddit and you do have to wait. You just don’t have to STAND in the line, you wait the same amount of time as everyone else waiting for the rides. I’m not lazy because I have a disability and parks make accommodations so I can have fun. Do you really think I dont deserve to enjoy the park because I was in a 4 car pileup? seriously? get a grip
Hi, I’m the OP of this post on reddit and you do have to wait. You just don’t have to STAND in the line, you wait the same amount of time as everyone else waiting for the rides. Do you really think I dont deserve to enjoy the park because I was in a 4 car pileup?
For the last few times I have gone to WDW I had to use a wheelchair. That bothered me. I wanted to walk down Main St. I wanted to walk every where. I don’t look like I need to be in the wheel chair. You can’t see that my back is messed up or my hips don’t work all you see is a cute girl that is sitting down. But I had to wait in line, I didn’t get to cut the lines.i got THE LOOK. I got tired of the look while waiting in Toy Story ride fr a lady IN FRONT OF ME, I finally had to tell her when she had the stage 3 cancer I had she too could have a wheelchair. That pretty much shut her up.
I don’t understand why a disabled person with debilitating muscle aches and spasms needs to be riding a roller coaster and having their body spun around which is certainly not healthy for them.
It’s not like riding a rollercoaster is a necessity of life that you can’t do without.
If you can ride those fun rides then maybe you are not as disabled as you think and you should pull your arse to work and find a job!
Hi Avila, I’m the OP of this post on reddit and your comment is honestly on some bs. youre not my doctor babe and it isnt up to you to determine what I get to enjoy in my life. drinking is literally poison to your body and yet we dont ask WHY DO PEOPLE NEED TO DRINK? CANT THEY LIVE WITHOUT IT? eating hamburgers clogs your arteries but people do it daily. I dont think that because i was in a 4 car pileup that doesnt mean i dont get to enjoy rollarcoasters, one of my favorite things. maybe actually think before you speak next time. ” if you can ride those rides maybe you arent disabled” WOW am I glad you didnt go into the medical profession
and honestly what does this have to do with having a job!?!?!? LOL I have a great job? why would you think that because I used a disability pass I dont have a job? tf? youre an idiot
When I was 12 we took a teen church trip to cedar point. I won a little bell figurine from someone who tried to guess my name and lost. I then went shopping and was detained in the gift shop and accused of stealing the figurine. They said they are not game priEz. The finally tracked down the girl who verified I DID win it. I was let go…no apology or nothing g! I was so traumatized I never went back. I am now 49.
