SeaWorld got a bad rap from some disgruntled employees and a woman who wanted to “free” the whales so that she could take them to Finland or some such place and charge wealthy people to interact with them!
Perhaps if the father explained about all the animals that SeaWorld saves each year, it might make a difference. They offer a few “backstage” experiences that are really interesting! Over the years we have done several of them! And when my daughter interned there, she arranged for me to have a backstage tour of the penguins! On one trip we saw baby dolphins that had been orphaned. And the manatee rescue program is wonderful.
That said, I think that if the girl is going on this trip she should have to do what the others are doing! Sounds to me like she is refusing to go to SeaWorld because her step mom wants to go! Mom was wrong in saying “real family” but I’ll bet there is more to this than what we are being told. Daughter may be 15 but is acting more like a spoiled 6 year old. I would give her a choice…either participate in EVERYTHING we do or stay home! Or better yet, if there is one thing she wants to do, take tgat off the table. Life isn’t fair and we all have to do things we don’t want to do. She should be happy she is invited to go…lots of kids from divorce don’t get that opportunity!
