Unfortunately the Kenobi series villains, especially Third Sister are shallow and predictably 2 dimensional (nearly 1 dimensional). It’s as if the director wanted this to be conceptually simple for children.
Worse still, the chase scenes involving the little princess are Roadrunner/Coyote comic but not actually funny. She’s smart mouthed but not actually smart or capable.
Ben is portrayed not just as past-his-prime (although he doesn’t look it) but as a bumbling, incompetent, waste-oid. It’s one thing to portray that 10 years have passed since Ben was one of the most superior Jedi Warriors in the galaxy. He defeated both Maul and Anakin. It’s another thing to portray him as if it was 40 years since he was a mere bumbling sidekick and is indecisive and now nearly worthless.
By the way, the actress playing Third Sister does a credible job in her portraying what is unfortunately not a strong character, similar to the Ben character. No one’s race or ethnic background is at issue in the performances, only the lack in writing and direction.
By the way, I’m a mixed race, lifelong Star Wars (and Disney) fan and want nothing more than for this series to be great.
