This happened a couple of weeks ago. Why weren’t we made aware or compensated for the loss of time when we booked tickets? Disney got full price but we got less than the full experience.

MK also closed at 4:30 on 5/4/22 and were not told ahead of time. I did talk to a CM and she mentioned because of the early closure I could hop to EPCOT even though I didn’t have a hopper ticket.. If I didn’t ask I would of never known.

That’s so good to hear. I would hope that they would have allowed a park hop.

Most Memorable Visits to Disneyland, Electric Light Parade, as an elementary school kid, around 11 or 12,
with my sister’s & parents, over 40 years ago, The Fireworks every evening are awesome! My parents treated me & my daughter’s, 30 years ago, We enjoyed the rides, paddle boats, waterfalls breakfast with the Disney Characters, Disneyland hotel, I went back sola, 2013 and experienced the Live Bands performance, Mary Poppins, costumes & dancers, FABULOUS 🥰

    1. I had the best vacation at Disney World! We stayed 2 weeks at “Dixy Landings,” very nice. We had breakfast with Chip & Dale, Mickey & Minnie, The Adults attended a “Lua,” the mytie’s were delicious! We rode the tea cup ride & loved “The light parade! My eldest loved getting autographs from Tigger& all the characters, we had fun seeing the future & all the President’s, and riding Magic Mountain! So much Fun! Thank you Mr. Disney!:) 🐁

I’m all for honoring a celebrating the hard working cast members. They deserve this. However, I found out about this a week ago, and was told I could BUY a park hopper for this day. They specifically said it would not be complimentary.

I was in MK today and not only did the park close early, but the rides that I was waiting to ride as the park crowds began to drop around 4PM, all began to shut down BEFORE published closing time of 4:30. Both Seven Dwarves Mine Train and Peter Pan closed their stand-by lanes by 4:15. So, really, the park closed even earlier than stated.

Water transportation all across Bay Lake also ended at 5PM, forcing many resort guests to the busses to get to their dining reservations around the lake.

Boycott. People should begin finding other wonderful places to visit besides Disney. No Disney movies, merchandise, vacations, etc and just maybe we CEO’s with common sense will start to realize many things.

        What’s so funny, ya twit?

Typical Greedy Disney take your money and give you a half service for it. The last time they did this they at least warned you on the day, but if you purchased your tickets in advance you were screwed.

This CEO and Board need to go. Greed Greed Greed and Sloppy Sloppy Sloppy Park Management.

There was ample warning if you bothered to look ahead of time at posted park hours. This was planned well in advance. Astounds me how people like you mouth off about what you do not know. Or bother to even attempt to do the slightest minute research ahead of time.

      1. Julian

Actually Minnie Mouth Lover they do not always do this, we have booked a year in advance and there is / was no mention of it. And yet Disney charge you for the full day. And you think that is fair – You clearly have more money than sense.

It ASTOUNDS Me how Brainwashed you are, even when Disney takes you for a ride and its not on Space Mountain, you will blindly follow. Crazy.

Ummm, This was announced over 2 months ago. IT has been posted on the park hours all of this time. Since early March.
If you cannot take the time to view the hours, then there is nothing more to say. You chose to attend on a day that had shorter hours. While Disney may have permitted some guests to park hop, they have no responsibility to do so. And you, as a guest, have no right to expect that from them.

What an absurd response. You think most of these people are Disneyphiles and have nothing else to do than keep track of the whims and changes at the Disney parks?

      1. Jen

It’s literally just looking at the park hours, not diving into the depths of secret Disney knowledge

      2. Minnie Lover

No sorry, you’re being absurd & obtuse.

        1. Julian

Brainwashed Minnie do you even understand the meaning of your words – You are both Rude and Crass.

    2. Julian

Yes they did 2 months ago that’s not a year in advance, so guess what we got shafted.

If you booked on the day yes you may have seen the sign, or even two months in advance yes you would see, but a year in advance your funds are taken.

Except, and this is a big except, they did not post any park hours a year ago, so you were just guessing that it would be open late. When they announced park hours, they announced the shortened park hours. They DID NOT CHANGE them. These were the park hours.

        1. Julian

Actually Scott they did, I also have the park hours for the next 12 months, but I’m sure it will change as it does now.

Final straw. Disney has lost its “favored status” in this household. Too much disappointment (park closures, fewer services, non-pandemic restrictions, etc) this past year alone, and not enough “magic” to repair the damages. Truly breaks my heart.

  9. We have been there and found out a park was closing early so you go to and park. Is it really that big of a deal. Sometimes you just have to deal with little things like this.

  10. I have read some of these comments. Unfortunately, if they shut a park down early, that can put a kink into your plans. I guess it’s just me. I love EPCOT and I am thinking how badly I would feel if they closed early. I would be VERY upset! I am sorry that some people had their plans ruined.
On a lighter note, I still have my 25th Aniversary annual park hopper pass. It included Pleasure Island and all of the water parks. I looked at the price. 366$! It definitely was well worth it. I visited 4 times that year each for 2 weeks. I am very happy that I didn’t turn it in for the new one. We used to get some money off for unused days. I have kept every room key and all of my plane stubs. Wow I have a lot of momentos( I hope that I spelled that properly). I have been told that I have a lot of Disney junk! Those people are no longer in my life. Have a great day everyone!

Very sorry to hear many folks are upset. Cast members work hard to bring you the best entertainment in all weather conditions. This closure was to give them a well deserved party. It was posted well in advance and many guests just chose to not read their provided info. The cast members attending the party are required to have been a cast member at least 10 years and then are invited every 5 years. This park closed a few hours early and we are sorry that needed to happen for our celebration. Cast members are also blocked out of the parks on many dates so there will be more guests able to attend. Thank you for trying to understand.

They orialy posted a 9pm closing time, and based on that I made ADR. I only found about the change through YouTube blogger.

As stated before, they began to shut rides down even earlier, which is a big no-no in my view.

They shut boat services down at 5pm, so many people who who never need to check MK park hours were left scrambling to make their ADRs around the lake. Saw many people on the phone speaking with Disney to hold or adjust their ADRs because they were going to be late.

Yep. Celebrate cast members! Just keep the rides open until closing time, and do a more proactive job of informing all guests.
