He’s right… you have to have the tips of your shoes right at or slightly over the end of the “step” you are on and kind of help the tips get caught (by angling the front edge of the shoes downward). It’s not easy to do without wanting to.

Maybe one foot is an accident, but both feet??? Was Mom not watching him? Was he not paying attention? Escalators are dangerous. Parents need to mind their children to make sure they enter and exit safely!
There is absolutely no reason that the kid had to walk across Epcot to get to the store. The article says they are with family, so why doesn’t mom go quickly and grab a pair at the store while the others wait for her? Or see if there is a temp wheelchair lying around (sometimes there is nearby where cast members can grab one) and push him to the store so he can pick out new ones. No need for drama!
Plus always watch your kids tiny feet one escalators…doesn’t only happen at Disney and even sneakers can get caught.
