Don’t storms last like 2 min in FL?

First off, we were on the Skyliner when it was stuck for almost an hour. When we got off Disney cast members greeted us with water, lighting lane passes and a $50 gift card each. Way over and above what they needed to do. Disney can do magical things but can’t control weather. Find alternative modes of transportation or stay at a moderate hotel.

I stayed at Riviera for 2 nights and there were no storms or issues with the Skyliner, for me it was the best mode at WDW ever!!

Is it just Pop that has no bus? If Art in Animation has one you can hop on that and be right next to Pop.

I am kinda blown away that another Disney guest is upset is news, there is always upset Disney guests. There are always upset guests period, anyone who has ever run a business will concur. It is not news, I’d rather hear about the wonderful time someone had than hear about how lightning closed the skylines two days in a row when one family found it inconvenient. I would have thought one could figure it out the first time.
Stuff happens, have fun with it, you are on vacation. If you have to wait make a game of it, entertain each other.
Thunderstorms ripe through central Florida consistently from now through at least late September. It is a fact, these storm can rarely be predicted reliably, the need to shut down the skylines for minutes or hours are dependent on unpredictable storms. Would you be safe in a gondola during one of these storms? Absolutely, would you be terrified and scared for life? Assuredly. Would you write about your inconvenience, no.
As a business owner Disney decided to err to caution. They do it every moment you are on property, do they always get it right? No, but can you predict ever possible outcome? No.
As far as buses, do you realize how many buses that might have to be rerouted from as far as 20 minutes might take to get to your location? 20? minutes on a clear day. In a storm? Disney buses do not travel their own road, they travel the same path as everyone else with very few exceptions.

Well said! These precious Disney fans get on my damn nerves

We were stuck in a crazy downpour with our 3 year old granddaughter as epcot was about to close. The streets of epcot were flooded and we were pushing a stroller while other people were catching frogs. We were sent to the resort just past the skyliner station where were were met with dry towels and chairs to sit for a minute before we went out and caught a bus to pop century. We had a blast and now have a great story with our granddaughter. Everyone on the bus was laughing and telling stories about our adventures. Sometimes it rains on vacation, if you let it ruin your fun that’s your problem.

SkyLiner was my favorite part of the trip. Honestly the only complaint there is the buses- not the Skyliner.
I’m honestly shocked Pop doesn’t give you a bus option for HS and EPCOT, I can’t imagine everyone is comfortable with the idea of the air ride, and yeah, they should have buses somehow quickly ready to step in when needed.
But anyways- that skyliner is game changing and minus a few random issues it’s the

I would add that Disney did not take into account that some guests do not want to take the Skyliner–ever. I stayed at Caribbean last year (and have done so for ages); when informed that the bus to Epcot no longer picks up guests from Caribbean, I was at a loss. Nasty folks on Disney groups told me not to stay there if I were scared of heights. That is not the point…Disney accommodates all types of people; removing the bus from Caribbean inconveniences some folks; and, it’s like telling someone she HAS to ride Space Mountain or she can’t go to the park. I hope folks understand…I’ll still go to the parks, still stay at Caribbean, but will now have to do a work-around, which is very un-Disney.

      Sorry but waah

You can take buses to any of a number of places and transfer.

We got caught in the storm two weeks ago, we was directed a 5 min walk to the resort right next to epcot and put on a special service bus and was on way to pop century within 5 minutes.

Many guests expect pampered service the moment they step on the property. I would imagine they would also want their butt wiped by someone else.
So much for being flexible in today’s ever-changing world. OMG, they had to actually walk a short distance!! They can tromp all over EPCOT but rail at the thought of having to trek a few feet to a bus.

    1. amm

Obviously, you’ve never had your butt wiped by someone else…

    First world problems

I looked forward to them. What I did not realize was how hot they can be when you are there with your party.
The ride is not smooth. The ride is not especially scenic.
You can’t take good photos out of them because of the decorative film.
It’s a novelty I’ll pass on the next trip.

I remember riding something like this at Disneyland years ago as a child. Loved it. Wish they still had it on the best coast

We were stuck on the Skyliner for over an hour and a half because two of the cars collided at the loading dock. I hear that is a problem that they have. We missed our dinner reservations at Topolino’s. When we got off there were cast members waiting with water, gift certificates, and they took care of everyone’s reservations. We were an hour late, but we walked in and our party was seated promptly. We really appreciated the cast members help. Top notch. As for the Skyliner, I enjoyed the ride, but not being stuck. It started to get hot, they are not air conditioned, and I have a bit of a fear of heights. I hope they fix the collision problem.

All these ‘pro-Disney’ comments seem highly scripted and fake … “we were seated promptly” like one of the comments above states. Who writes that formally in a comment section lol? Seems Disney has staff writing comments. Any real guest knows that Disney is in decline … Fire Bob Paycheck!

Non sense, there will always be something not operating in Disney. Just relax and enjoy; think too many people wish to be in your feet, even if you have to wait for a bus

They shut the Skyliner down one night after Epcot so we walked to Beach Club and got a $10 Lyft for 2 adults, 2 kids and a double stroller. It’s all about a plan and plan b at WDW.

  15. My wife left Hollywood Studios early one day since not a Star Wars fan and her knee has hurting, while I stayed to enjoy it with my daughter and her boyfriend. Unfortunately a storm hit and she was stuck at the Caribbean Beach transfer station for an hour waiting on Disney to send a bus to take her to Art of Animation. Just seems like with storms a daily occurrence that Disney could have had a bus or other transportation available on stand by just in case this happens with the unpredictable nature of the weather in central Florida. Not saying Disney did anything wrong and other than that incident took the Skyliner several times and loved it much more than the buses. Just feel they should have a contingency plan for Skyliner travelers from resort to resort in case this happens (at least one shorter than an hour wait time).

    Skyliner is our favorite ride!😂😂😂

This happens a lot. And you don’t know the Skyliner is down until you’ve walked all the way back to the rear exit because Disney doesn’t put up any signs indicating the Skyliner is down. I have repeatedly contacted Disney asking them to add push notifications through the app when Skyliner is down, because when there is lightning or high winds it is shut down. This happens on the regular from May through October, and it is frustrating. I am a travel agent and tell clients not to depend 100% on the Skyliner during these months for this reason.

DW is one of largest tourist destinations on earth and still use fleets of buses . When I visited a few years back I saw them building this giant system and knew it’s a total waste of money . You know what works to get large numbers of people to destinations in a safe reliable way? Trains , or light rail .
