Somebody HAS to see this BEFORE commenting

We should all cancel our Disney+ subscriptions, stop going to the parks and stop buying ANY Disney merchandise. IF…………IF……………enough of us do that, and the stock tanks low enough, Disney shareholders JUST MIGHT vote Chapek out………..along with the current Chairman, and vote a NEW one in

We ALL have to save what we truly love. The Walt Disney Company must be saved

And MOST importantly, we all have to PERSUADE OTHERS TO DO THE SAME, and WARN Disney of the impending boycott to REALLY get Chapek SCARED.

And I will be seriously disappointed if I see ANYONE, and I mean just ONE PERSON commenting WITHOUT vowing to do ANY ONE OF THESE THINGS. We must both BOYCOTT Disney AND encourage others to do the same. Can you really consider yourselves Disney fans if you choose NOT to fight and sweat blood to save Disney, and recruit others in this crusade? Can you, REALLY?

I want you to think very hard about that

    I hope everyone understands

Something HAS to give to put a stop to this endless price gouging, and we need to restore Disney to its former glory.

I just hope somebody has seen this

Please comment below about this and express your thought about making a TRUE pushback to really teach Disney as lesson. So we can TRULY save the company.

    1. Nick

Well, prepare to be seriously disappointed.

      1. Matthew Muir

You don’t believe a boycott would actually work, Nick?

        1. Steve-O

I don’t think you could get enough people. Boycotts would always work in theory, but the issue is you have to have a substantial amount of people do it before a company even notices. Now, I’m basically boycotting the parks already as I have zero desire to participate in the mess going on right now…buuuut, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my Disney+ subscription, and don’t really see one as having much to do with the other.

Darned right I have a problem with the upcoming change. 25-yr WDW veterans, we just returned from highly disappointing trip. CURRENT Genie+ is bad enough, making each day filled with pressures of HAVING to wake up early to jump on the smartphone, then bury your head in it through the day to hopefully snag what you want, and complicate the issue with SEVERAL attraction stoppages due to “technical difficulties”. So soon, Genie+ isn’t even assured if you WANT to pay for it? Disney can say, “… will improve your guest experience…” all they want to; that doesn’t mean it’s true. This truly was our worst experience in 25 yrs (Genie+ was a contributing factor, but not the only reason… even live performances like Lion King sucked! Seemed like ALL in the troupe were “stand-ins”… they just weren’t good.)

Why are we not hearing from Disney’s Board of Directors regarding all this craziness ????

  2. Julian H

Personally I will not ever use the Genie+, total con if you ask me.

The old Fast Pass was fared shared and included within your holiday price. This Genie crap can go straight in the bin, along with the Greedy Disney Board.

    1. Matthew Muir

Have you yourself actually asked others whether they’re boycotting Disney? Or are you yourself not going to the same lengths that I am?

I think there’s a distinct possibility that the boycott could actually BACKFIRE

    2. Matthew Muir

And also Iger was more of a people person than Chapek, as is Josh D’Amaro as he has more charisma than Chapek, but is all of that just a smokescreen for their greed?

Iger may have had better looks than Chapek, but does that really matter in the scheme of things?

      1. Anonymous

If Iger was a people’s person, then he should be respecting people’s wishes like letting them watch Song of the South and not be removing people’s favorite stuff in parks that are popular. That’s pretty greed and selfish of him. Well since he is already history, things may change, even after Chapek may be history sooner than we think. You never know.

    3. Matthew Muir

I personally fear that the boycott might not really make much of a dent on Disney’s bottom line because it’s simply too big and too diverse, and the avaricious board are simply too ruthless in their means of making money.

And I don’t even think the Board are the true villians. I think the SHAREHOLDERS are, Julian. The people who appointed both Iger AND Chapek in the first place, along with Susan Arnold. So the possibilities for the next CEO are pretty much endless, for better or for worse, as they will ONLY ever look at whoever’s making the most money

    4. Matthew Muir

In short, boycott or NO boycott, we are ultimately powerless to dictate who becomes the next CEO, because only the shareholders holding the biggest stakes in the company possess that power, and as such, the whole point of the boycott in the first place might be POINTLESS

    5. Matthew Muir

I do apologize for the number of comments, Julian. if you happen to come across them, there’s quite a bit to unpack here so you’ll need to read through all of them before replying

Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, Slinky Dog Dash, and Frozen Ever After are not included in the Individual Lightning Lane. They’re included in the normal paid Genie+.

    1. Barbara Pollison-Beck

It was my understanding that those rides were only a temporary thing for the summer then they are going back to paid lightning lane in the fall.

  4. Scott McGhee

Just went to Disneyland and used Genie+. I have to say that the experience was severely disappointing. Nowhere does it say when you purchase this upgrade that you can only use your lightning lane attraction once per ride per day. This is a huge change from the fast pass/max pass system. They do tell you this AFTER you purchase the genie+, but that is too late. Someone needs to take them to task over the bait and switch tactics!

    1. Dawn

There is no bait and switch, it’s in the information. I have never (and beyond receiving free LL ride times) will never purchase Genie/Genie +…. but knew from research that it only included one time riding each ride per day.

  5. Steve-O

This seems like a pretty obvious first-step towards ‘tiered’ pricing for Genie+. I’m sure someone at Disney saw Universal charging (and somehow getting) $400-500 for their ‘quick queue’ add-on–that is IN ADDITION to the ticket prices they’ve already paid–and figured out that they can charge more on busy days. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this thing top out at $100+ on busy days.

  6. Andrew Fontanez

I say this all the time “Genie+ Lightning Lane along with the Reservation System” will not last forever because people don’t want to spend extra money just to skip the lines, and most of all and I mean most of all. People prefer to make a reservation for hotels, not for theme park entry, Chapek days are numbered along with the three systems due to backlash against Chapek’s controversial decisions and the negative reviews the three systems are receiving ever since it was launched last year, there’s a petition online now to demand Disney to bring back FastPass+ and remove Genie+ and Lightning Lane go on Google and search for it share and sign it.

    1. Every single comment has merit. Disney IS NOT Disney anymore. It is time for them to check out….

The removal of the Fast Pass is a stain on the history of a once-great but now shamefully-greedy company. Disney virtue signals over inclusivity but doesn’t give a damn about economic inclusivity and the millions of people who save hard to visit their parks. I won’t be visiting again as its simply too expensive as a family destination, sadly.

  8. Jim

So, let me get this straight – Up the cost of parking by a couple dollars approximately every six months or so (CHECK), Cram as many people as possible into a given park (CHECK), charge more for just the “privilege” of entering a given park (CHECK), make visitors wait in long hot lines for rides as long as possible to encourage them to purchase the next item (CHECK), charge EXTRA (above the cost of the individual ticket to enter a given park) for a service (Genie+) that manages the extras (i.e. Fast-Pass, restaurant reservations) that were once totally free (CHECK), make it as hard as possible for people to get this “extra & convenient app” so they can increase the price (CHECK) and then charge EXTRA for just the “privilege” of actually getting on a specific ride (CHECK) – What’s next? Charging for the air you breath when you are on their property? No? How about charging EXTRA for ALL rides so you’d have a cost to park, a cost to enter, a cost to get reservations, a cost to ride and a cost to breath all the while telling you that you are at the happiest place on earth? Happy for them maybe. I know – you don’t have to go… and to be honest, I won’t go any more when everything is à la carte and they keep finding ways to add new costs on all the time.
