I remember when it didn’t have seatbelts. My daugher had some air between her butt and the seat. That made it more terrifying holding onto a bar and your kids. Glad they made that change. We waited an hour and a half for that one March 11, 2022. The lightning lanes got a character experience with Max and Goofy. We peasants were kept behind plexiglas barriers. It was magical.
Nice to hear some backstory. I was the original artist who created the lightning animation for the Tower’s pre-show, which was directed by Joe (Gremlins) Dante. It was one of the more fun jobs I ever had in the film industry . . maybe I should make those animation cels available to the fans of the ride 🙂
