  1. No More Disney

In all my years visiting Disney, I experienced this for the first time in Dec ‘21. An ENTIRE FAMILY OF 8 … LEFT THE LINE… THEN, decided they wanted to ride after all and pushed their way BACK through the line to get where they originally stood. The ride staff did NOTHING! This was just 1 more reason why I’m DONE with Disney! Disney World just sucks anymore. I think Mickey Mouse has taken charge! I’ll go to Universal.

If your done with Disney then you need to be done with every other park as it happens to all of them. Do you really think you would stop a line cutter while making $13 an hour? Lol

      1. Steve S.

        Film the line-cutting.

When they get to the head of the line,
        1) start filming again.
        2) inform the cast-member of the line-cutters, and that you will be filing a complaint.

This was a big problem the last time I was at Disney and I did call these people out. Had to stop since the offenders were ready to get or threatened violence. Not afraid of violence but not worth getting arrested, hurt, or banned. Reporting incidents led to no action. Only once did I see staff getting involved. This year went back to Disney and only saw it twice. Once was with a group of cheer leaders that thought it ok to just join their friends. The second was when one person got in line and thought that because they had a person in a wheelchair who wasn’t in line, it was acceptable for that person and the 6 other walking person’s to jump ahead of maybe 15 others who had already been in line for 15 or 20 minutes. Disney could resolve this by telling patrons that if observed they would be asked or escorted out of the park. As always, if there are no ramifications for bad behavior then then it can be assumed that Disney condones this behavior. Why I nor any of my extended family will likely not return to Disney is a tale for another time.

I got paid $6 an hour when I worked at Disney World and I would have done something about it had I seen it. Yeah it sucks getting paid crap, but it’s your job. If you don’t like it, you quit. I’m glad that people are just quitting instead of just not doing their job. (Most) guests who spend thousands of dollars don’t deserve that.

        1. R

          @ JS
Thank-You! I am so tired of the “well, they get paid crap”, excuse.
If you WANT the job, you do what you are expected to do. Very few park jobs were MEANT to be or designed to be life long “careers”.

A party of 6 cut the line at Hagrids motorbike ride. They said their friends were at the front. Rude people are everywhere.

      1. Cindy

Yup just came back from Florida Feb 9 and also at hagrids a big family showed up to cut the line. My son called them out, they had to go to the restroom. Well then, you all need to wait until everyone is done before getting in line. Where is the common courtesy in this world, long gone. And don’t get me started with Disney, I had my own incident at Peter pan and some shoving and words.

        1. Cindy

And big families willnotpsy for the lightning lane or express pass, so they will continue to cut lines.

          1. Annette

That was rather a bold statement as we are a family of 10 and DO pay for the express pass. We also have a 5 year old with a small bladder and do sometimes have to take them out if the lines are long..we are not line cutters..I too do not like larger groups to join a person already in line.

      2. Pashka

We had a large group try to pass us in line while indicating they were meeting their family. We refused to let them pass then other bystanders in line started telling us to let them pass and be with their family. We stood our ground, but the whole thing caught the attention of a cast member. We told her what was going on and she allowed them to cut past us in line! We saw the same group try this again a little while later and another ride.

    3. Bill

      Totally agree
Used to go once to twice a year
      Spending my vacation $$$ elsewhere

This happened to me for the first time in Dec ‘21. An entire family of 8 left the line but then decided to ride after all. They pushed their way back to the spot they had left. The Disney staff did NOTHING. Just 1 more reason I’m done with Disney. I’ll go to Universal!!

  3. Adam

I am guilty of stopping for coffee and coming through the line to meet my family.

    1. Ray

They should wait for you. Or maybe you should get up early to get coffee.

  4. Tori

Went to Tokyo Disneyland,it happened all the time. On top of that, the line kept getting held up by people taking selfies. Makes no sense to take 1 while waiting. Not the worst I’ve seen though, I was waiting in line for the women’s bathroom at Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco and some women were taking selfies. How very exciting/sarcasm

    1. They could take a selfie and a pic of their steaming pile in the toilet then say “Guess which pic is me and which is a steaming pile of …

  5. CC

Not all line cutters are line cutters. My family and I have been visiting Disney World every year for 25 years. I can tell you from experience, families with children conduct the bathroom check before entering a line. Never fails there is always a child who doesn’t have to go until you are 30 minutes in on the wait. As you know when one has to go they all have to go and invariably so does an adult. In our case we generally travel as a group of 12 to 15. Last trip in December 21 our group of 3 we waited an hour in line for Mission to Mars. 5 people away from boarding my grandson had to go to the bathroom. I had my daughter go inform the cast member and when it came my time to board, the cast member allowed me to move out of line continued to board the ride and allowed my grandson to come back and join me after he returned from the bathroom. Kudos to the cast member and Disney for courtesy. Holding a space in line is one thing returning from the bathroom no matter how many I personally don’t consider line cutting. Let he who has travelled with children cast the first stone.

    1. Steve S.

Kids & bathrooms can be exceptional cases (I am a parent too) but that really has nothing to do with the cases the OP describes.

    2. Stephanie

I travel with children. They need to go to the bathroom first. If they don’t and we have to leave the line, we don’t go back or get at the end of the line. Lesson learned!

    3. Joyce

We were at Universal and a large reunion group of 20 plus were at the park. The teens continually would go into a queue and say they had family ahead so people would let them pass. They never had anyone in line, but used it to push ahead of everyone. They’d get close to end and stop.

  6. RoC

We went to WDW many times in the 80s 90s and early 2ks and never experienced this. I am glad we are done with disney after reading about all of the issues at these parks and the extreme cost of going.

  7. Bluphoenicks

Sounds like white privilege complaints to me – – line cutting is when nobody in the party stands in line and they just “cut” in- if someone in the party has stayed in line the whole time, they’ve paid their dues – kids and senior citizens have trouble standing for hours so sometimes they need to go sit – if you are mad about it show it with your wallet and stop going but no you disney freaks can’t resist -ridiculous…

    1. Ray

I was wondering when racism would enter into this. And ,line cutting is when someone…anyone, doesn’t wait in line

    2. M.R.7

The only “privileged” folks are those who ignore the rules of the park because they think they know better. Doesn’t matter if saving a place is full on line cutting or not. The park rules say no saving a place in line.

    3. Drake

How exactly do you know the races of the people who are posting? White privilege? The term its self is endemically racist.

  8. William K Siddell Jr

While we were waiting in line for the runaway train which is usually and long ride, the oriental family had a new trick to advance in line. They let their young boy (very short) run up through the line and then the parents “trying” to catch up end up 5 or 6 groups ahead. My question is if you can see people having sex on the people mover in the dark, how is it nothing is ever done with regards to this behavior? This isn’t the first time foreigners have used this behavior. What are you waiting for?

    1. Patrick Vargo

      Oh look, a racist!

  9. Telehubby

My family coined a term for people who cut in line at Disneyland. We say they have an “ass pass” 🙂

    1. L.Weitzel

      Yes.

  10. Abraham Sussman

It is not enough for any park to have rules. It is up to the park to be able to enforce the rules.

  11. L. Weitzel

Every single time we go to Disney we experience this. Every time. Mind you…we go every couple of months to WDW. The last time…we went straight to a cast member after 2 people just skipped right in front of my boys and I to inform them. The cast member did nothing at all. She just said, “ok.” So…I got on the Disney chat and explained what happened to them but it was hours later that I even got a response. Later on…we waited on slinky dog dash to be moved into the main line from where it splits by a cast member. The cast member allowed about 8 people who got out of line way back in the beginning to cut in front of us. I would say sure…whatever…if they got out for the bathroom. However, it wasn’t. They came back with food and drinks in hand from Woody’s Lunch Box. Again…we said something and the cast members did nothing. Our best guess is that the cast member in this situation knew them. I am quickly realizing that Disney has lost the vision of Walt Disney.

    1. CJA

I am not so sure if it’s Disney or us who have lost Walt’s vision. I’m an old fossil who never imagined such rude and selfish behavior to come around.

      1. Kevin M Sharkey

It’s definitely not Disney. It’s society in this country as a whole. The rudeness and selfishness is overwhelming and seems to only be getting worse.

      2. Bill

Disney has been going down hill for a while.
Keep paying more and more getting less and less.

  12. MadMike hates you

I live in central florida and I will never step foot in disney again. You have to be a sucker to go there.

  13. Micki

I have experienced line cutting in Galaxies Edge. We’d been waiting and waiting and just watching this one guy keep letting his friends jump in line with him at Savi’s.

After counting about 10 people we called a cast member over and explained what was going on. She got another cast member and they went over to the entire group and removed them from the line and escorted them out. So they will do something if you say something about it. But if you just stay quiet how are they going to know.

  14. Kevin Cregan

It’s an absolute JOKE!!! First of all even if you have a Genie pass it doesn’t garentee much of a lesser time!!! Second youbhave to pay extra for the Genie pass.. it’s not fair to Annual Passholders, it’s disrespectful!!!!

  15. Word of the Wise

Seriously screw all you people who go to Disneyland 5x in 5 years and think you can complain like you own the place. You have obviously have enough privilege to go, shut the hell up and enjoy your fat wallets. I’m tired of hearing Disney Fans complaining. Most of you are children brains in adults bodies.

    1. Cheri

      Back atcha. 😀

  16. Kevin M Sharkey

Jeez. People will find any reason to whine and be melodramatic. “Borderline abuse”? Seriously? That person should really learn what the word ‘abuse’ means.

    1. Rox

It is merely the world in microcosm. Common courtesy has gone out the window. The example being set for children is take what you want and buggerall who you have to step on to get it. Too special to follow rules. And no one stops them.

  17. This line jumping will always be a problem. And, what makes it worse is that Disney will never do anything meaningful about it. Except take the opportunity to plug their product of line jumping for Disney’s profit (Genie+/Lightning Lane). Two thumbs up, way up for correcting or confronting a serious problem. Way to go.

Those first few months after Disneyland reopened were fantastic. No one from outside California was allowed entry into the park. Most of the crowd were park veterans from SoCal. There was no line cutting. No one littered. No holding up the line to take selfies. No herds of Midwesterners blocking pathways. Everyone and everything is more relaxed. I understand that for some this is their one and only trip to the park and they are stressed and unsure what to do. Still, the park is a lot more fun when everyone knows the program.

  19. Neil fisher

I don’t understand how this is considered cutting in line. Cutting in line is when you didn’t wait at all and then just cut in front of people. If people are waiting in line and a part of the group leaves and leaves one person in line to hold their place but everybody’s still waiting as long as they would if they were physically standing there, what does that matter at all? How are people seriously complaining about this?

  20. Derek

“Have you experienced line utters at the Disney Parks? Let us know in the comments below.”

Well I haven’t been to Disneyland since I believe either summer of 2006 or 2007.. I don’t real there being any line utters available. That’s definitely a unique thing to offer people to use in line. Or is it referring to long lines to use the utters. And here I was reading this article assuming the most shocking thing is people’s audacity and entitlement even at Disneyland, but nope. Twist ending left me shocked and with so many questions about the offering and use of utters in Disneyland.

  21. James

I at Epcot wanted to ride Soaring and a cast member tried to hold me back because I rode it an hour and half before. So she kept me from riding it for 15 minutes.

  22. Chichi

My family was at animal kingdom for Christmas and the people hitting us and pushing us a side at flight of passage was ridiculous! At 2 hours in I remember I said loudly ” if some elbows me to push their way ahead of the line one more time I’m going to turn in to a Karen” 😅🤣🤷‍♀️ people did stop for like 10 minutes and then proceeded to keep pushing their way forward! My family was one of the last ones to leave the park because people added about 2 hours to our wait by cutting in line! Unfortunately no matter how many cast members there are babysitting people, is only up to people to behave like adults! Also alot of people got really annoyed and angry at cast members at rides were we did have the ginie pass! I told a lady at one attraction at Epcot that we had purchase a the ginie pass and the cast members was doing his job! And they lady stop her whining! But I think it has all to do with the entitlement people feel they have just by being able to make the trip 🤷‍♀️ all of us are paying to be there and all of us deserve to have a magical time! So people with this freaking entitlement need to be grounded and respect other people who also paid to be there!

Disney is a joke. Instead of it becoming more inclusive of all children, it has become more exclusive. For the upper class and wealthy. It’s become a money maker. The thought of happy children running around is something they no longer care about. Walt is probably not happy with what they’ve done to it. It’s sad. Keeping up with the Kardashians is not what childhood should be about. Unfortunately it is what is happening.

  24. Matt

Disney doesn’t care. They don’t enforce other rules and they don’t enforce this one. Cast members just shrug their shoulders if you report it. Six Flags is showing up Disney these days. Pathetic.

I can totally relate!! Of all the years I’ve been going to Disneand and DCA, we’ve never had to get out of line, or have someone wait in line for us. We would go together, no send someone to save spots. At Ariels ride in DCA, we have a family 11, ELEVEN!!!!!! Cut in front. The Dad was saving a spot. I was pissed cuz I was pregnant at the time (very visible) I told them dont squeeze thru cuz the rails get very narrow at one point of the line. The wife did and I ripped her a new one. She tried to say something in Spanish and luckily my boyfriend knows Spanish, so he told her off. She kept walking. Other people in line were pissed too. Had a group of 7 teenagers do that to us on Haunted Mansion. Stay together or let the other go on the ride. Stop saving spots people!!!!
