When I last visited Disneyland, there was a person, could be the same one, at this exact location in the park. While I don’t exactly dislike that people bring in their collection to trade as they’ve clearly paid for a ticket, taking up entire benches and table from others that may need to use those benches and tables is not right. Disney should maybe have a dedicated area set up for traders? I’ve never been into the whole pin trading thing myself, but some of the “traders” can be quite rude to kids.

that area in frontierland was a designated trading spot. they used to have tables for trading, but removed them. so the benches are all we have. it’s first come first serve. there are plenty of benches in the park elsewhere, including just outside frontierland. and for the record, the gentleman in this picture is not rude at all. that’s their opinion. he’s actually very friendly, often giving pins to kids. so Karen can take her opinion & shove it

Sorry. Benches are for sitting and resting. Not your personal collections and hobbies. That dude took away multiple seats. Why should paying guests have to elsewhere to accommodate his hobby, as you suggest? It would be more appropriate for him to go elsewhere. You sound just as entitled and self centered as he appears to be.

L+ratio+YB better 🤡🤡🤡+didn’t ask you bozo. Benches are for sitting, relaxing, & resting…end of story. Please take your pin trading somewhere else bot. Amy L Foster=walking L Foster.

There’s tables and chairs alround the corner with lots of shade people don’t know it cause it’s a secret I go there a lot and pin traders are only there till 2pm and they move and they leave and if u came out to the parks there only there Sundays and Tuesday for a few hours and gone

      2. cheryl

Sorry I would just move them over and sit.

        1. I’m an old lady and I’d move their stuff over too! There’s too much walking to do, and no matter how nice the person claims to be… a nice person wouldn’t take a whole bench like that!

          1. Someone

Its one bench, yall are acting like he took 5 benches .

They don’t let it happen in Disney World. No setups. Sounds like a bad situation. You can only trade with employees. There was a kid who wanted to trade a 19.00 pin for a standard pin with me. I gave her two pins instead of just one and told her that pin is a really good pin.

    1. Bloop

You very much can trade person to person in WDW. There used to be a spot across from pin traders where people would post up in Epcot. But nothing concrete has popped up since it’s demolition.

I don’t think anyone should be allowed to set up shop like this in the parks. Period. The park is for guests to enjoy the atmosphere, attractions and food. I concur with the person who called this a “swap meet” look. Want to do big pin trading? Set up outside the gate.

    1. AMY L FOSTER

that area is where everyone trades. he didnt “set up shop”
trading space is first come first serve. there are plenty of other places to sit. there’s nowhere else in the park you’ll find people set up like this. it’s right outside of the main pin traders store.

      1. Heywood

You know, if you pulled that nonsense with me and my grandkids needed to sit, you would find your precious pins dumped on the ground.

How rude to expect others to be inconvenienced so you can monopolize benches that are for guests to sit on.

        1. Mickey

You dump my pins on the ground you would be paying to replace them and I would tell a CM what you did to have them call security to kick you out

      2. antikaren69

I will buy you a drink at ANY country around the world at EPCOT…to stop commenting here. Please & thank you. Have a magical day bozo!🤡🤡🤡

I would have either moved their things or simply sat on them. It’s a theme park not a car boot sale or a flea market. I’m disabled and occasionally need to sit on a bench that is meant for actually resting on not conducting business upon. Some people have a breathtaking sense of entitlement and selfishness.

        1. Mickey

If you did that to my stuff I would have a CM call security on you and get you kicked out

I want to say I am a trader but I am more a collector. I used to trade but I found I did not like the risk of bad pins or the congestion of the crowds in the walk through area’s of the park. I much more preferred walking through the lunch area just outside the park, not that I don’t try and get a peak at the traders in the park but it is so crammed and I will admit, not as pleasant as I thought it was at first. Thinking back it was probably funner because people were trading me bad pins for my good ones. That got old fast and once I started spotting bad pins or knowing the value of different pins, then they were not as nice. I would actually like the idea a location special to traders but with todays “can’t upset anyone or you might get sued”, I can see where Disney might be stuck. Although if the park located more benches in area’s other than right in the walk ways, I could see some pin traders moving on over there. In reality, I think it would be nice if there were more places to go and sit and relax without having to fight for a seat in a restaurant or eatery.

I was a cast member for a long time. I personally interacted with the person in the picture the entire 11 years I worked there. He comes to the parks daily. This brings him joy. Of all the people who enter those gates, he is one of the LEAST rude people. He only trades with his books out in the morning, before people are looking for a place to “rest their feet.” He is so kind and trades fairly. He takes extra time with kids and never takes advantage. Him using those benches for an hour is no different than the people that line Main Street using their jackets and bags as spot holders for their friends and family. People know who this is. He’s very well known in the parks and is very loved. I’m not sure what posting his picture was needed to say anything about pin trading and traders. This entire article is unnecessary. Putting his image out here for everyone to see in a negative light because you want to wine about someone using a bench before you know anything about them is unnecessary.

    1. AMY L FOSTER

EXACTLY!!! Thank you…you said it perfectly!!

    2. antikaren69

WITH context, your comment makes sense. Sadly, the lack of context paints this person in a negative light. Wish the OP gave more context like you did. Maybe we can meet in the middle like Donna suggested with an increase of bench presence? I don’t want to believe OP had bad intent by putting this individual out there like this. I would simply state myself & others are against others who ARE malicious with their pin-trading intent v.s this supposedly well known stranger. Have a magical day!

    3. Mickey Mouse

People take spaces hours before a parade/stage show/fire works start and nobody gets pissed at them so how is this any different

  6. smudge

I would have vomited on the pins and then apologized as I walked away.

    1. Anna

Some of the comments are not true. I am a friend of the pin trader. He only goes to the park twice a week. Disney has removed alot of the benches out of the area that traders used in the past. The pin traders have already been chased out different places in both parks. They need to provide a place for pin traders. It provides a lot of money for disney as they spend alot of money on pins. It also encourages visitors to buy pins,

    2. Mickey

You would have to pay to replace them for doing that

  7. Amanda

This is funny. Its a bench. Move on, there is much more pressing matters to get someone’s knickers on fire. If you are that upset get a cast member or security.

  8. Someone

whoever wrote this article, is terrible at writing with false information. and that’s on period.

  9. Kendle

So grateful to see this story!! I felt that exact way yesterday March 1st. I was in Frontierland looking for a shady bench place to sit on
to escape the sun & heat. I saw the pin traders had completely taken over 2 or 3 benches with their huge thick pin binders and displays. It was disturbing and inconsiderate of them to take shady benches for their personal use. Honestly I can’t believe Disney allows this.. it’s really too much!

    1. Mickey

Boohoo people take up spots hours before a stage show and you don’t see people complaining

  10. Ash

With all the problems in this world, its sad people are crying about a bench to sit on. If this is the worst thing that happens to you in a day then you are VERY blessed! Count your blessings that you were able to even purchase insanely priced tickets to take your family there. Won’t happen too much longer with gas and food prices going as high as they are. Go hug your families.

Just another self entitled AP who thinks they can do whatever they want, where ever and when ever they want.
