Splash Mountain is a fan-favorite attraction in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. It takes Guests through the story of Brer Rabbit as he tries to escape Brer Bear and Brer Fox. One of the most anticipated aspects of this ride is the 50 foot plunge into the briar patch. But imagine riding Splash Mountain and making that final trek up the hill, but then suddenly coming to a stop right before the drop?
Well, on a recent visit to Splash Mountain, that’s exactly what happened. Guests were in for a surprise when the ride suddenly came to a stop and they were evacuated.

Disney World Guest and Reddit user @Few-Working-8470 took to the social media platform to share a few photos as they walked off the attraction recently. They explained that Splash Mountain “slammed stopped” right at the drop, and they were evacuated.
As they walked through the attraction, they snapped some photos of Splash Mountain, two of which you can see below.
If you plan on visiting Walt Disney World in the near future to ride Splash Mountain, you should know that for one month next year, the attraction will be closed for refurbishment.
According to the My Disney Experience app, Splash Mountain will close on January 10, 2022 for a month-long refurbishment. It is expected to reopen on February 11, 2022. Keep in mind that with all refurbishments reopening dates are subject to change. We highly recommend checking the My Disney Experience app or official Disney World website for the most up-to-date information.
