That’s exactly why we see hundreds of engagement proposals and happily ever after moments take place in the Parks, especially at Magic Kingdom. However, not every proposal goes as planned.
TikTok user Kate Kelly (@thekatecupcakes), a former Disney Cast Member, recently shared a video of proposals ‘gone wrong’ at Disney World. The video was shared just a couple of days ago and already has more than 200,000 likes.

In the above video, Kate shares three stories of proposals that didn’t necessarily go as planned.
The first one was a proposal that Disney was made aware of ahead of time, and the Cast Members worked to make sure that the family was alone in the room at Ariel’s Grotto. After meeting with Ariel, the boyfriend got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Her response? “I guess.”
The next one happened in a Disney character meet and greet with Daisy and Minnie. The family was a group of around 15 people, and after the kids had gotten their chance to meet with Minnie, they were adamant that the girl and guy get a picture together with Minnie. She didn’t want to, and he eventually brought her over and popped the question. Her response? “I don’t want to do this right now.”
Finally, Kate shared a hilarious story of a proposal that was supposed to take place at Enchanted Tales with Belle. The proposal was planned to happen after the show, and Belle was going to come out and congratulate the couple. The show ends, and Belle comes back out.
They take pictures with Lumiere and Belle and nothing happens. At this point, the Cast Members are afraid he’s freezing up and Belle tries to tee up the question. That’s when he revealed that he had proposed to her three hours earlier.
