They are very careful not to call this a two day vacation, because it’s not two days, meaning 48 hours. It’s a 45 hour vacation that includes the less meaningful term “two nights”. Two nights can be defined in a lot of ways. Two days… not so much!
Got back a week ago and cost of my 10 days was 30% more than 5 years ago. If I had spent two nights in the star cruiser it would have been at least 90% more.
$6k. Do you get a personal butler who’s dressed like a droid? Do you get a personalized costume to make it immersive? Do you get free alcohol? Do you get a full day of full admission? Do you get a two bedroom suite? These are just a few of the things I would expect at that price tag. $6k is a huge amount of money for just two nights. There’s no way this can be worth $100+ an hour. Most people would have to save for years to have $6k to spend on two nights. For that price I can go anywhere in the world.
For $6000 for 2 nights, my Disney immersive experience better result in my finding a box of real gold bars that I can take home with me! Disney is expensive enough, but $6000 for 2 nights is out of reach to all but the richest of guests.
$6000 for 2 nights is just ridiculous. Soon, they are going to make Disney to expensive for majority of families. Pure greed by Disney. Disney is supposed to be a great experience for all families.
People have said it looks like it was designed by people who have never seen a Star Wars movie. All the imagineering that went into creating Galaxy’s Edge was not used in this project. Many have said the “cruise” looks more like Star Trek. If you are a Trekie and don’t mind the inaccurate Star Wars label, you may like it.
Disney: Trying hard to popularize things that aren’t popular. The Disney Star Wars sequels are horribly written, and maybe it’s actually because they were simultaneously designed to be commercial theme parks, resort hotels, toys, etc. at the same time. Which of course is quite impossible to accomplish in a quality manner all at the same time. So much wasted effort, so much wasted money, so many bad ideas. They’ve ruined Star Wars. Not that Lucas didn’t already start that process himself with the awful “Chosen One” storyline in the prequel trilogy. And on the Star Trek side of things, JJ Abrams & Kurtzman have also ruined that franchise, turning it into Emotion Trek and almost totally destroying the utopian Federation; the hopeful future that was the key thing real fans loved. The only reason all this does not amount to a pop culture apocalypse is because we’ve got Marvel now. All hail Kevin Feige!
It looks cheap because Chapek cut their budgets, drastically. Chapek is all about charging more and giving us less. He finally went too far for the Disney fans.
The prices are high and still going up, while the quality and guest relations continue to dwindle year by year. The Walt Disney Company can gobble up and take control of all the interests in other studios, networks, franchises, etc. but keep in mind, the bigger they are, the harder they tend to fall. If you disagree, just take a look at the history of Sears and Roebuck, or other former titans who placed shareholders and excessive profit (greed) before quality and customer service…this business model never ends well. It is just not sustainable in the long-term.
I totally agree. When these companies get to the point where they only care about shareholders, then they start only caring about 1. Making money and 2. Not getting sued (because that costs them money)
And all their decisions stem from that
Why can you book a Disney cruise for May 2023 already, which is half the price, but you can’t book this event. I would like to book, but only if I get the dates I want and have plenty of time to pay it off.
Disney doesn’t want to accept that the majority of us SW fans don’t want nothing to do with the awful sequels. We want things based on the SW we love and that is the OT, PT, Mandalorian, Solo and Rogue One. We want to see Greedo, Boba Fett, Leia, Han, Luke, Garindan, Plo Koon and Ahsoka in Galaxies Edge and in their SW atractions and we don’t want a star cruiser that none of us hardcore yet non-rich fans can afford.
Speak for yourself. I want NOTHING to do with the PT, and would much rather have the ST over the PT. But personally, I’d rather it just be based around the OT, and be adjacent to the OT and not so focused on the main characters from any of the trilogies or series.
I love Disney and I really like Star Wars. However, after watching that 16+ minute review, this really does not look/sound like fun at all. Cooped up two days in one place? 6K for a family of four to be a part of this? Strongly encouraged interactions with the cast members and following a set schedule (folks with social anxiety, this will test your patience. I know it would for me)? I could afford to go with my wife, but this just isn’t for us. I’m looking forward to the reviews/comments after it officially opens. I’m sure there will be some interesting comments indeed.
Call it “cooped up” if you like but he whole point is that it’s part of the immersive nature of the experience and was always one of the big selling points right from the idea inception.
Similar story concerning the schedule, it’s part of the premise, always has been.
Typical Disney. Thousands of fans complain about the cheapness of and extremely over priced Star Wars hotel and Disney turns a deaf ear, Four or five people complain that Snow White was rescued by a prince and Disney falls all over themselves to change eighty years of cinema history to cater to wokeness.
$6000 is obviously a price gouge eliminating any normal person from being able to see this hotels experience. Executives are making millions, cast members making a little more than min wage I believe. I guess deep down they need to charge that amount to cover all their losses. They get rid of the greatest perks, treat everyone like a disease and the prices go up. The company has completely lost it. Used to be a place where you could forget about all the political stress and drama in this world. Now Disney has brought all that in the park. Why do you think their has been so much violence in their park? Guests are stressed out of their mind during a park visit. Warnings everywhere, threatening signs. I’ve switched to universal.
I don’t see this as a huge problem? Nor do I get what everyone is whining about, it’s STARWARS but not STARWARS!
This is basically a starliner from a different planet in a different part of the Galaxy! It’s not a star destroyer or a TIE fighter or the Death Star or any of the warships you see in Star Wars It’s a luxury starliner so I don’t know what these people are expecting but they need to grasp the reality here? Maybe it’s not up to snuff I don’t know honestly in the video I am really see a problem yeah the controls are a little hokey but you know our technology doesn’t really mean what it should be for what we’re looking at but you got to understand that if you don’t why are you there. Also Disney could have researched some alternative technologies that I’m actually aware of being from the plastics industry where you can take a sheet of plastics and from underneath it there is a way to shoot a light sensing video for lack of a better term on the plastics so basically if you’re a DJ you’re looking at the whole DJ table with all the mixers and everything on the underside of a plastic sheet and you can touch that it senses it and it works it’s really cool technology but it could be adapted to work in this environment that And would have been futuristic.
Yes does the imaginary need to step up their game a little bit but the people also need to cut him some slack. And you know what I haven’t even been inside there and seen it I’m just going by what I see on the video and not just busy videos some bloggers videos. Also cruise ships have different economic levels when it comes to rooms so if they wanted to change some rooms and make them more luxurious they could do that and then you have like the economy cap and leave those ones as this and why they only want to see this do I need to be working for imaginary happy to give them my advice sure my knowledge be in service but nobody ever calls me and I’ve left information I’ve left messages so I hope they get it right but it’s not a lot of right to get.
Hi Richard.
RE: Voice over Typing
I understand how this can happen.
I sometimes send a text that has words in it I didn’t even type! I think it is the option for “automatic wording” (or something like that).
Because of my past mistakes, I try to always read what I “typed” to ensure something like this doesn’t happen again.
Have a blessed day!
When I first heard they had renovated that apartment in the castle and were going to use it like a motel room I thought, “how nice, I’ll watch someone’s video on YT about it”. When I saw the price on this I thought, “that’s insane, I’ll watch someone’s video on YT about it.” I’m self aware enough to know that I can’t afford most things at Disney and even if I could I wouldn’t spend that much on non-sense.
Bob Chapek trying to show that he can be “creative”. “Immersive experience” is one of his repeatable clucking phrases like “Extend the franchise” and “Grow the brand” which is MBA nonsense no one else understands. Go Bob!
They have THE WRONG CEO at the WRONG TIME for this to EVER be a success!! Bob “Cheap-ek” will NEVER SPEND the funds needed to make this what it could have been.
This is a perfect storm of a Disney disaster! First-every REAL fan hates the Disney trilogy that should be soon wiped out of canon-then they go ahead and use those characters instead of the beloved OT characters for their far OVER PRICED, barely Larping “experience”…………then you have “Cheap-ek” running things?!? And then you seal its fate with those PATHETIC “promo” videos…
I think that Disney has now made it more about the wealthy who can afford going to Disneyland. I also think that by taking away the way Walt wanted it, This is not about Walt any more its about how much money the executives can put in their wallets. I think I will say that a small company should buy a piece of property and make it just exactly like Walt wanted. What is being taken away is Walt’s Dream and his wishes. I have loved Disney since I was a little girl. I would go to the park every couple of years and everytime I loved it! I can remember that if something went wrong with one of the rides he would be on it in a snap. He would have someone there in a snap to make sure that everything was properly running like it should be. I know at this point I will not be able to afford Disneyland any time soon. I guess I will have to start finding other parks to go to that just maybe I will be able to enjoy. Thanks Disney for ruining my dream of ever being able to enjoy your parks. Thanks for taking away the little girls dream away that as a adult that she remembers.
The $6K price tag is way overpriced. I can understand that Disney wants to make a profit, but this is overreaching. Just how far would the experience take the guests?
Ive been a Star Wars loyal fan since 1977 when i first saw my first movie ever, Star Wars (New Hope.) Since then, growing up during the original Star Wars years and into an adult Star Wars holds a special place in my heart. Its a love that has been passed down to my kids and now my granddaughter.
It is sick, and wrong to make this experience so expensive only the rich can afford. Walt Disney and George Lucas im sure had a vision that their dreams could be enjoyed by all classes of people. This is sad that Disney has no heart for the poor and middle class to make the hotel more affordable. Shame on you Disney, Walt im sure is rolling over in his grave.
Comments for Disney Execs. Reportedly Aware ‘Star Wars’ Fans Are “Crying Out in Horror”

The problem is that the average Star Wars fan can not afford to stay there, let alone bring a family…way to Disney cater to the elite 😡

They should put it with all eras/films/shows like Legends, PT, OT, & Mandalorian, have Luke in there. Also I really don’t know about the Starcruiser.
Rodney Simonson
“But of course, you’re on the one fateful journey that goes horribly, horribly wrong, and you get wrapped up in the action.”
Kinda sums it up, I think.

I did not know Covid had made it to the “Star Wars” Galaxy. you make a hokey video and even have people wearing masks..

Uuuh yeah dude half of FL has Covid.

…which means that at LEAST HALF OF US now have something called NATURAL IMMUNITY!! How many “vaccinated people” are STILL getting Covid??

Was Joe Rohde the lead Imagineer on this? I’m only asking cuz is is trash, just like all of his Animal Kingdom garbage, so I’m connecting the dots.
If it was not Joe, it must have been his Apprentice on the Dark Side of the Imagineering Force.
Nick Stasiak
Rohde, who pretty much saved Animal Kingdom, had nothing to do with this project. Maybe if he did it’d be a better product/experience.
John
Wait… Rey and Kylo Ren are aboard? Another reason not to waste money on this.
They really don’t understand the fans… if they did, the Sequels would already have been decanonized.
Zhatan
Amén!
Lets Go Chapek
Why would you start this article with “ …as excitement should be mounting for the first ‘voyage’…”? It’s $4k-6k for two nights.
Why should “excitement be mounting”?
Regardless of the cluster this has obviously become, the “excitement” was always tempered by the exorbitant cost from the onset.
