If you planned to sneak away from Magic Kingdom today in hopes of snagging a drink at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, you might need to shuffle your plans.

Today, Disney’s Contemporary Resort has had to close its bar, Outer Rim, due to a ceiling leak. At the moment, there is no confirmation as to exactly when the car will reopen, but there is active work that is seemingly being done as sections of the ceiling are removed.

Luckily, it does not seem that the leak has caused too much damage, but of course, there cannot be Guests in the area while a leak is active, so the bar has had to close. Outer Rim is a popular bar spot at Disney’s Contemporary Resort as it is not a reservation bar but rather a first-come-first-serve. With so many dining locations needing a reservation, Outer Rim can almost always guarantee you a seat, and if they are complete, you can always order a drink to-go!

For those looking to get a drink at Disney’s Contemporary Resort today, you still have a few great options. Both at Steakhouse 71, the new replacement for The Wave, and California Grill have bar areas that both serve drinks and food, which are first-come, first-serve! The space is far more limited than Outer Rim, but at least there are some options for Guests to enjoy.

Disney describes Outer Rim as:

Admire stunning views of Bay Lake with specialty cocktails before—or after—dinner. Try a Piña CoLAVA, Watermelon Margarita, Blue “Glow-tini” or more! A full bar menu is also available.

At the moment, the Disney World website lists Outer Rim as open but will likely change it at some point to reflect its closed status. Hopefully, the leak will be easily fixed, and Disney Guests can once again visit the lively bar with its excellent Cast Members who can put a smile on your face with their stories in seconds!
