Who’s the leader of the club that’s made for you and me? M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E! Today, November 18, is Mickey’s big day. Grab those Mickey ears, turn on a favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon, and throw your very own birthday party! To wish Mickey Mouse (and his best gal Minnie Mouse!) a special birthday, the voice of Mickey shares a sweet message.
The most popular mouse on the globe celebrates his 93rd birthday today! Mickey Mouse first appeared in the short film “Steamboat Willie” on November 18, 1928, and has become the iconic Disney character we all love and adore. Somewhat forgotten with the Mickey Mouse excitement, Minnie also made her first appearance in 1928, becoming the official counterpart of Mickey. The popular duo is now one of the most popular couples on Earth and shares today’s birthday celebrations.
In celebration of the big day, Disney Parks took to Twitter to share, “Oh boy! It’s Mickey and Minnie’s birthday! Party popper To celebrate, Bret Iwan has a special message for Mickey and Minnie as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Most Magical Place on Earth.” Check out the video below presented by the current voice of Mickey Mouse, Bret Iwan:
Throughout the pandemic, we’ve been able to see Mickey and Minnie from afar with character cavalcades, but we’re thrilled that you can once again see Mickey in Magic Kingdom’s Town Square Theater at Walt Disney World Resort for a physically distanced character sighting. It may not be the same as giving him a big hug, but it’s a step in the right direction!
With Walt’s creation of Mickey leading to the Disney empire, it’s an inspiring piece of history, to say the least. Today and always we hope Walt’s famous quote will remain true, “I only hope that we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” Happy Birthday, Mickey and Minnie!
