It’s great to see things like this being implemented. It shows pass holders that they still matter. Little things go a long way!

    1. Rich

Yes it doesn’t matter how bad they screw you, they made a purple light to show you still matter. Have expectations really become this low?

      1. Trey

I was thinking the exact same thing. We don’t really care about you and we are charging you more money to get less value. But before you get all disgruntled, check this out: it’s a purple light and special sound for you when you enter the park (assuming you can get a reservation of course).

    2. Rob

How do these new categories line up with the old categories? We purchased our annuals before the new names but still have a bunch of time before they renew.

    3. Terry

Hey will give you less for your money but hear is this cute saying with you flash in. Sick greedy bastards

    4. SG

I agree! And I loved seeing Ratatouille before the public and long lines!

So, I’m the post it says that there’s one single option for Florida residents, but isn’t it the opposite? There’s only one for NON-Florida residents, and it’s really limiting the out of state people because of the price increase from the programs we were in before. I’m not going to be able to get an AP for a long while because of it.

    1. Jen

Okay, I had to go back and reread. There uses to be one FL resident option and now all but one are. I got it. Nevermind! 😬

      1. Nichole

Yeah, I’d rather have fast passes than colored lights and a sound effect which, likely, take little effort and don’t provide any actual value.

        1. Hey

Yeah no thanks. I had several magic bands which did the same thing. I didn’t pay the money for barely bell’s n whistles. *Yawn*

    2. Better transportation to and from the parking would make a magical moment. A purple light does not. I encouraged my whole family to get the AP with me and we all regret it with the state the parks are in now.

      1. JJ

They were always in Florida though!!! ZING!

    3. Oh yay 🙄

Oh boy, that’s just great… 🙄 yet many other perks were cut. I’d prefer to get fast passes or not to have pay extra especially as a Incredi Pass holder….. we were sig plus pass holders in California and the max pass was included which was the fast pass and pictures. Let’s include that to passholders. I could care less if the light turns green or purple…. Paycheck Chapek needs to go!

    4. Dani

The only affordable one for FL residents has soon many black-out dates, and NO WEEKENDS?? WHAT?? WE ARE over 4 hours from Orlando…its not like FL resident means only Orlando..lol..these options stink, imo.We had DVC,AP for years…. not now! Doesn’t mention parking….

  3. John

So the light will be purple instead of green. How again is that a perk?

    1. JEFFREY HANDSHAW

      Purple means (meant) DVC owner

  4. Thomas

If this is considered a perk Disney has really abandoned it’s annual passholder. They are one of the greediest company’s that just care about making obnoxious amounts of money on their customers. This is not what Walt envisioned at all. Whether it is the parks, media or any other entity it screams GREED all around. There was a time when they did care about the passholder but that was years ago. The park experience as deteriorated to an all time low, people are crammed into every possible space, and we are told this is limited capacity. Sooner or later people will wake up and stop accepting the price increases, outrages food and beverage prices and less and less entertainment (SpectroMagic, Parades and so on. Paying a premium to be able to see the Very Merry Christmas Parade. So So Sad!!!! By the way anyone know what happened to the Mickey Monitor for the passholders I guess that perk has disappeared..

    1. Mike

Agree completely. The recent changes to the annual pass cost, fast passes, etc. are just money grabs and are making the parks out of reach financially for most families. Keep the entry sounds. Make the parks affordable for families with small children. As it stands now it’s out of reach. It amounts to a car payment or more

  5. Bill Nye not a science guy

THAT!!..Is soo worth the 1300.00 dollars. What a bargain.

    1. Jim

I was going to post the exact same thing. Surprised they don’t make a “cha-ching” sound effect each time someone enters the park. Maybe that’s a mother tier we’ll have to pay more for.

      1. Scoop

Okay this is a very funny comment, lol

  6. Pam

Wow a purple light makes me want to run out and spend $1,300 for each member of my family. Not.

  7. Amazing new Perk?
Only one of those three words is true.

You must be really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for content providers. This is the same author that posted a 7 year old article as if it had just happened yesterday.

  8. John

Unless I missed something, these packages no longer include parking and photo passes.

    1. Allen

Standard theme park parking is free with an AP.

      1. Willie

Don’t say it out too loud. They might removed that perk next year!

  9. frank

in what world is this a perk

  10. VDog

Lol, I’m going to consider this article straight up trolling haha. I KNOW I didn’t just read your title of AMAZING new “perks” for annual pass holders being that a light turns purple instead of green at the gate. Not sure if it’s gotten better there in Florida, but here in SoCal, we still have to cross our fingers that there are still days available for the entire month ahead of us for the 1400 we paid. But don’t worry, it includes free parking without tram service so we have to walk a mile on our own to the park. We’re tired AF Before even entering the park lol

    1. John

That purple was always there. It was used for DVC owners. Now they are just taking that recognition and giving it pretty much everyone.

    2. Bob

And the reservation system steals the advantage passholders had by being able to go every weekday if desired. Just like the extinct fast pass you are lucky to get a reservation!
And limiting to only 3 is another joke!
Annual pass holder for 10 years
      WE ARE DONE WITH WDW!

  11. James Tasker

    BIG DEAL!

  12. Ray

    Bazinga!

  13. Rodney Wayne Simonson

It certainly does not replace FastPasses.

  14. Yawn

Yawn. Jack up prices. Replace fast pass with a money grab. But hey – we get a purple light and funny sound…

  15. Elizabeth Ashley

This article is horrible. A purple light is not a great perk.

    1. Scoop

I think this was a little bit lazy. They should have made this a different color and sound. This same color and sound we’re already in use for DVC. I don’t think it would be too much to ask for some differentiation.

  16. Darlene

Maybe I’m weird but I don’t see this as a perk. It’s certainly not an “amazing” one. Maybe an enhancement? What I would like to see is EMH for AP holders regardless of where they stay on property.

  17. Former Passholder

Chapek: Ok people. Brainstorming session. Let’s think of a way to make those needy passholders who agreed to stay on even after we almost doubled the prices and cancelled free fast passes “feel” special without actually giving them anything of value, that costs less than $5 to implement (not per passholder, $5 once, for all time, for everybody), and that we can do without actually having to purchase any additional equipment, have anything printed up, give any perception that our pass holders actually have anything that our beloved resort guests don’t, or distribute anything to anyone. Winner gets a free pair of Mickey ears (last year’s model, that we were going to toss out anyway)…

  18. Lynsey Smith

It would be nice for AP’s that renewed and still have their old pass to be grandfathered in per se to get lightning passes as fast passes honestly. I mean when we paid that was one of the many perks that was taken away, so sad…..

  19. JADE EDWARDS-CUREAU

I wondered. I was like are people going to think this is great? For the price it should at least say welcome and then say my name. ET has done that for years.

  20. Daniel

Different color and sound. Wow, what a perk. Can’t wait for different smell and taste.

  21. Terry

Please sign the petition to fire bob chapek this is not a perk at all. Bob paycheck only cares about money.

  22. Christina

How about keeping the annual passholder rates affordable? There are so many blackout dates on the lower tiered ones and the others cost a small fortune. For the first time in years, i will not be renewing my annual pass. I would rather pay as i go.

  23. Joe

How about letting passholders that are staying on property use the passholder line for early entry – instead of lumping them in with everyone else? What good is a passholder only line, if it opens 30 minutes after the rest?

  24. susie schiappa

Love Disney world but do not like how they have raised the cost ridiculously and taken away the bands, photo pass etc, they don’t care about the pass holders it’s obvious, they only care about making money. Seems like every time they come out with new ears they raises the prices, love SeaWorld, they give pas holders free tickets, $10 bonuses, free animal feedings and their prices for food are not ridiculous like DW.

  25. Melissa

    I don’t really think I’d call this a perk.

  26. Joseph Foss

    Chapek must go!

  27. Joshua

Wow! I used to be an APH, we used to have a lot of benefits! Then poof! Like the magics of the parks it disappeared! Then they say we are not good enough because we don’t spend enough money! Now we get a pretty purple light! And the don’t have water parks anymore! Universal still welcomes you in by name! Means more to me that being singled out by a light!

  28. Steve

Are you kidding me???? Am I the only one who noticed weekday select passes have nearly doubled in price???? The price increases are becoming ridiculous.

  29. Thomas

    How is that a perk?

  30. Oh yay 🙄

Why is everyone so tough on Disney don’t you realize Disney is a business and we have every right to become as filthy rich as possible. Why would you not being able to have the same perks you have always had bother you. Life is all about changes. So what if you lost emh, free dining, free transportation to your resort. We have you a purple light people how much more do you want, and you call us greedy. Sheesh!

  32. Oh boy 🙄

Oh yay 🙄 I’m just so excited

If this is considered a perk, then I would like to see if Ms. Alessa Dufresne is related to someone named Disney or a Disney Exec.

  34. Joel

It’s not new… this is the DVC member welcome lol which I noticed last week when I was there DID NOT HAPPEN ONCE.

  35. DonB

Sadly ..It’s the new Disney …create a distraction ( purple lights ) to try to make you forget that every time you walk into a park your ability to be spontaneous is less , the cost has risen dramatically, the value with the new gouging Genie and Lightening Lane is just a expensive replacement for what already existed and on and on. As long time DVC members and annual passholders, for the first time ever we’ve decided not to renew our AP’s and we will only stay at our DVC resort to use as a base to visit other places in Florida. We are very disappointed at the level of greed that has taken over the magic.

  36. Mark B

Every time Disney tries to show off a new change and put their positive spin on it you realize how much has been taken away and how much more your experience is going to cost. 60% price increase for an annual pass, and now you don’t even know what attractions you can reserve until 7AM the morning you go, and on top of your pass price you will have to pay an extra $15PP per day for what used to be included with the fast passes? Forget the purple light and remember the base that had made you so popular and will keep you that way—until it becomes unaffordable and unenjoyable. You can keep the lightning lane, but restore the free fastpass!

  37. Wanda

Well I was there on the 2nd and 3rd and my light was still green. I feel slighted!!!

  38. Melanie Durham

I think it’s nice, plus purple is my favorite color!
