When Disneyland announced that it would be reopening after a more than year-long closure, officials announced that Disneyland and Disney California Adventure would be following in the steps of Walt Disney World Resort and require all Guests to make a reservation in order to visit the theme parks. Annual passes were no longer available, so all Guests could purchase their tickets and then make their reservations in the same step.
In late August, Disneyland’s new Magic Key Pass Program was launched and thousands of Guests waited online for the chance to purchase their brand new Magic Keys and start making their reservations. Unfortunately, after a while, it seemed to many that there was more Magic Key Holders than there were Magic Key reservation spots available.
Reservations quickly filled up, and many Magic Key Holders became frustrated when they found themselves unable to make reservations because they were booked weeks in advance. Dream Key Holders — the highest tier Magic Key — felt especially cheated since they had paid $1,400 to have no blockout dates, only to see that weekends were gone and weekday slots were all that remained.
Most recently, nearly the entire month of October was gone, except for a few spots left to begin the day at Disney California Adventure Park. Many disappointed Guests called out Disney on social media for the fact that Magic Key Holders seemed to be getting the short end of the theme park reservations stick.
Well, it seems that Disney may have been listening because the month of October has now opened up with reservations available at both theme parks, even for weekend dates!
Take a look at the new, open reservation availability.
Some reservation spots also opened up at the beginning of November, with weekends completely booked up starting the Sunday before Thanksgiving.
The month of December is still completely booked for weekends, but just because they are booked now, does not mean that they will remain that way. Disney could decide at any time to open more reservations for Magic Key Holders. Other Guests could also choose to cancel their reservations — and they have until the night before their scheduled trip to do so.
So, if you are looking to make a reservation for a day that is currently booked, continue to check your Disneyland app or the Disneyland website to see if more openings become available.
