We saw the Candlelight Processional at Disneyland in 2019 when the narrator was Lin Manuel Miranda. Our daughter sings in the choir and it is her favorite event every year.
I’ve “seen” several candlelight performances since that weekend is our favorite weekend to go during the holidays. I am a bit disappointed at how Disney has handled the regular park guests over the years. It used to be no problem to line the street without blocking traffic on the sidewalk and watch as the choirs came down. Now cast members make sure nobody is standing around except for invited guests.
Can be beautiful if that’s why you are there.
If you are trying to leave the park at closing and you’re exhausted from the day and you’re forced to be in a congestion of people worse than the 405 then it is less beautiful.
One of my worst memories at Disney, period, was trying to leave the park when Hemsworth did the narration. It was a hoard of people and no communication from the Disney staff.
I bet if I was in a chair listening it would be wonderful.
For a company that puts experience and safety above most other things. This is an overlooked issue/event.
I had a premium annual pass from 1989 thru 2017. Had a couple of friends who also had the same pass and we always made sure we went to the Candlelight Processional every year. It was one of our favorites – a “must see” event! It really got you into the holiday “spirit”!!!
I’ve been at Candlelight twice. A few years back, we were lucky enough to win the “lottery” and were seated for the narration by Kurt Russell and then Dick Van Dyke. It was an incredible experience. Very moving.
How do you get invited or get into the lottery? We are celebrating our last Christmas together as a family before my son and his wife get deployed to another part of the world with the Navy, and this would be a great addition to our visit. We would need five tickets.
