It adds to the overall atmosphere and as public transportation such as monorails become more common in North America it’s a nice touch to make WDW monorails stand out from the more mundane mass transit types.
I would love to see monorails in cities but I doubt that will ever happen because of the cost.
Decades ago, late 50’s – early 60’s, Disney offered to the city of Los Angeles to help plan a monorail system. But like all idiot governments (especially LA!) they passed on it and at the time began to shut down a lot of public transit.
A lot of the governments in the 50s and 60s were in the pockets of the bus companies. Street cars used to be a thing in the 50s but they were all gone by the mid 60s.
