  1. It will probably have the longest wait times in Disney history. This will encourage people to pony up for Genie plus. I have been on this ride. It’s a good ride but it is prone to breaking down. I won’t wait 3 hours in line for it.

Does that person know what a pot luck is?

      1. Parker

Based on recent wait times around the parks (Flight of Passage rarely exceeds 90 min and that park has less attractions) I would be shocked if ROTR wait times exceed 2 hours

        1. Donald Boell

2 hrs is still a joke. Step right up and give GreedyLand your credit card.

I agree, this is just one more way of bilking the public out of their money. Like I’ve said many times previously, the next step will be pay toilets! It’s sad that no one in the Disney family has input into how the business should be run! The folks ‘running the show’ will one day suffer the pain of Karma.

  2. DVMorgan

I believe that everyone entering the park on any given day should be able to stand in line for any and every attraction if they so choose. I’m very opposed to the virtual boarding group process… it’s so unfair. So it’s about time!

    1. Jill

Agreed. I was dreading trying to get on this one when I go; even read a stat somewhere that only 60% of people who WANT to ride it actually get a pass! For the people who live there and can try every day, I’m sure it’s nice to not have to wait and try again tomorrow if you don’t get a pass, but me going maybe every other year, I’ll take the line option.

    2. Amy

I wholeheartedly agree with DVMorgan. People have had their one and only chance to ride RoR ruined because they couldn’t get into the virtual queue. It is usually completely filled about 1 second after queue times open. There should be the option to wait in a regular line on all rides. Was saddened to hear the new Ratatouille ride was going to use this unfair virtual queue method.

When wondering why Chapek makes any decision, always look for the profit. With a multiple hour standby line, parkgoing SW fans WILL pay for the lightning lane. This is Chapek adding pressure to your wallet

Lined will be put of the charts, just like Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express were on the early days… I remember seeing a sign with 7 or 9 hours on line to board. Virtual queue was a lottery but was a lot better…

    1. Aly M.

      Lines will be out*

    2. Parker

What you’re describing is the opening of a brand new attraction. Rise of the Resistance has been open for more than a full year now. And there are not enough people in the parks most days for the wait to exceed 2 hours for any attractions, even the best. Based on recent wait times for flight of Passage and 7 Dwarfs I’m guessing ROR will hover around 90 min for most of the day, MAYBE peak at 2 hours on a day with bad down time.

True the wait times atm are insanely down (20-25 MAX at disney and that’s closer to afternoon. AM wait times didnt hit past 10mins)

But with the 50th anni. Coming up PLUS Halloween times n travel might spike

      2. Rich

Remember when Toy Story Mania opened? Lines were typically 90 minutes. Took two years before the wait time came down enough for me to get on the ride. Already been on this once. Just not worth the wait.

    3. What a bunch of money grabbing pieces of @#$% disney has become. Who in the world wants to wait for hours for 1 ride if you are at DW for 5 days as a vacation every few years???!!! This is just wrong, plain and simple. The que was a fair and simple process, now you have to pay “more” on top of a pricey daily ticket to ride something that has a tendency to break down anyway…just not right!

      1. Frank W Kapczynski Jr

I’d gladly wait because I’ve been there seven times and haven’t secured a boarding pass

They need to figure this mess out. As a huge Star Wars fan I have wanted to make the trip to galaxies edge so bad, but the lottery system for this ride kept me from booking a trip. If I’m going to pay the crazy prices to visit the park, then I expect to be able to experience everything the day I’m there, not get screwed over by a lottery.

While I appreciate that the new system eliminates the lottery, if this starts having 5 hour wait times, that ruins the experience just as much. And as many have stated, paying extra to get ahead in the lines is absolutely disgusting considering the ludicrous prices they are already charging for admission. Not to mention that once I do get to go there, there’s no way I’m gonna be able to walk out of there without paying for two of the build your lightsabers (my kid is just as big of a fan as I am).

Bottom line is Disney pricing is out of control. Walt was always on the side of everyone who visits having the best possible time, but he must be rolling in his grave at this point seeing how the corporation runs things compared to how he would have.

Can anyone explain to me why a “state of the art” attraction that has never operated consistently and cost a half billion dollars loads fewer guests per hour than Pirates or Mansion could 60 years ago (without screens) is considered such a modern masterpiece? I believe it’s still possible to design & build quality attractions that load greater numbers of guests. Is it possible these new attractions are imagineered to *need* a Genie service?

    1. Jessica Schlimgen

It’s the fact its MORE than just a ride like the ones you mentioned. Its a full blown experience! And what they pull off there is MILES past the tech for the older rides. Talking mixes of CGI n autoanomatronics and real people. Stage play and a trackless “coaster” as well as simulation. I got to ride it recently n it blew my mind what they did/pulled off!!

Seen nothing like it n it puts Harry Potter World to SHAME

      1. Sara

It is really a whole experience. Heck just getting on the ride is a full on show itself. I got lucky before with the virtual queue. And honestly, I’d wait a few hours to ride it again. Truly unique and full on experience.

    2. You're Wrong

Haunted Mansion is a 10 minute ride that is continuously moving. There are 131 Doom Buggies that can hold 2-3 people.
Pirates is a 7.5 minute ride with 50 boats. Each boat can hold 23-24 people.
Rise is an 18 minute ride with 38 ride vehicles that can hold 8 people.
If you compare Rise to the known capacity information for everything else, it’s in line with at least 80% of all the other rides. For the sake of comparing to a specific classic ride, the capacity matches Jungle Cruise. For a much better experience, too.

Ppl worried about wait times while im here more worried about the actors/actresses that are in it! How many times a DAY will they have to do this now? Over n over? Thats gonna take a toll which in turn will effect the experience. Plus running something that intense many more times a day will surely cause more malfunctions n break downs!

Overall not a smart move Disney:/ the que. Is what helped make the ride so special as well! Plus the rule of “only ride once a day” made it more coveted and unique! Please reconsider this idea 😬

  8. Al

Disney is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. Wish whiners would stay home

  9. EM

Once they figure out how to charge for the Virtual Queue it will be back and also be used for other popular rides. In the meantime they will charge for Lightning pass to make money. It’s all about the Benjamins

    1. Shammy

      I agree, it’s a money grab!

  10. Aaron Fricke

I’m through with Disney Parks when it comes to RotR! I tried the virtual queue twice – one at Walt Disney World and once at Disneyland- and neither time made it on to the queue. I wrote them and presented my ticket info asking for a complimentary entry with a reserved time for RotR. Their reply: hahahaha. Well, not exactly. More like Sorry, not sorry. I mean they said they were sorry, but I’m not buying another ticket and paying $500 for one damn Disney ride. I honestly do believe I’m done with Disney USA Parks. Going back to Shanghai for the incredible Tron coaster.

  11. VDog

I really hope this comes to Disneyland as well. I’ve got the crappiest luck and even though I had a pass when the land opened, I tried 4 different times only to be let down every time. All the while watching all the YouTubers posting videos of them getting on almost every time they visited. At least this way, it’s more in our hands to be there extra early to get in line and actually have a chance, instead of hoping on my dumb luck. The last time I tried, I got group #129, and they stopped at #126 for the night. So, yeah.

  12. RTeker

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! Gonna be in the Orlando area in October for HHN and wanted to spend a day at Disney and dreaded trying to get one of those &*%^ virtual passes (which in my opinion is the WORST thing any park can do)

  13. THX1138

YES! Stand in line, wait you’re turn.

People don’t understand the overcrowding the FP and now virtual queues cause. Id I hold a VQ for one rode but am standing in line for another, it’s like there are two of me at the park. The standby queues absorb people out of the pathways and out of other queues. So now one person isn’t increasing the wait time at an attraction they are not even physically in line for. The fewer people that use this new system will decrease overall standby times all over the park because a single guest will return to being a single guest and not clogging up several virtual places at once.

  15. Frank W Kapczynski Jr

I love it. I’ve been there seven times and haven’t been able to secure a boarding pass now I’ll be able to ride when I go in February.
