  1. Not interested in paying for genie+. I am interested as to whether or not others feel the same. If it is not profitable, maybe Disney will change course.

    1. Chris

It really depends, if it works as well as Maxpass, then I am fine with paying for it, but I do hope they allow add-ons to annual pass/magic keys at a reduced rate in the near future.

If it works as poorly at fp+ did, then I hope they don’t even bother.

      1. Patrick

I’m the same way. If it works out like Max pass did then I’m willing to cope. If it turns into a paid queue then I might as well save the money.

    2. Drew

The constant nickel and diming takes away from the magic. The constant being on your phone takes away from the magic. The removal of Magical Express takes away from the magic, along with so many other recent removals. Does Disney know how hard it actually is to achieve magic? I fear this self-destructiveness is occurring because the new regime doesn’t fully understand what it took to get there. It’s quite sad to see, really.

      1. Patrick

You’re absolutely right about their loss of the Magic. Burecracies like a corporate entity foster that kind of thinking without strong leadership at the top to guide it otherwise. It’s just going to get worse. I’ll deal with Genie now, but I see the future of me and mine not being able to enjoy Disney anymore. We’ll enjoy what we can now, seeing Disney in it’s death spiral, and hopefully we’ll have enough memories of the past to enjoy in the future.

      2. SG

        SO TRUE!

      3. Gern Blanston

        Drew,

Was there less magic before DME?

        1. Drew

It’s all my family knows, but it was the perfect way to start the escape into magic and not look back until you leave. My point was not simply DME though, and I think you know that.

    3. May

I’m buying Genie+ if parks are crowded. I’m not buying individual pay stuff, that’s too expensive.

    4. yoyo

no interest in genie and being on my phone when on vacation.

  2. Eric M

No need. I’ll just vacation somewhere they don’t try to beat me for every nickel they possibly can

    1. Mark

Exactly! Going somewhere where you are valued as a guest is more important than giving money to a company that really doesn’t care about the customer and your experience UNLESS you pay more. Nope. If enough people complain things will change, but there are so many morons out there who just accept everything and if they keep paying, prices will never stop rising. Going to a sporting event or concert is also a joke when you see idiots paying $18 for a beer that’s $1.25 a can at a grocery store.

      1. Melanie Durham

Well…..I’m a moron then, thank you very much!

      2. LiveLife

Man, it’s so moronic to enjoy life.
Are you also boycotting the cost of gas, ground beef, and milk?

        1. Craig zach

I always respected t GG at disney took the higher path by not allowing guests to skip the line for more money. I’m curious as to how this will play out… I’m an annual passholder, and I don’t want to have to pay another $15/day to ride rides. I mean, wasn’t that the point in the first place? Its hard to say exactly how it will look, but I think this is a bad move.

    2. May

I don’t want to go anywhere except to Disney.

      1. Melanie Durham

        Same!

    3. Gern Blanston

When you find that place please let us know! It also seems that you don’t know how business works!

  3. Leslie

    I’m totally getting it.

    1. May

There’s nowhere else that’s half as nice, safe and big as Disney World. It’s a no brainer. You can go to some resort somewhere, and it’s all beautiful, but the whole family will be bored because there’s nothing fun to do and nowhere to go.

  4. Tamara Dowd

I think I’ll wait and see. Maybe buy to get on the rides I really want to get on just once like I did with the free fast pass. I still think paid LL is a bad idea.

  5. Phoebe L Ho

If I had never been on Rise of the Resistance, I would have maybe bought a ticket for it to avoid the painful boarding group lottery. But I have been on the ride.
I am perfectly fine with using standby queues for rides that have the option (all my longtime favorites). I will not be made to pay out more on top of a too-high admission for something that worked just fine when it was free. Yeah I remember free Fastpasses. They were awesome. Don’t buy into this. Money talks, so make your voices heard the only way Those In Charge can understand.

    1. May

I’m not paying for RotR. I wouldn’t put it past Disney to charge $50 each, the ride has such low capacity. We have never been on it, the kids don’t know what they are missing. We’ll never wait in line either. We’ll just pretend that the ride doesn’t exist and go on other rides. What you’ve never experienced can’t hurt you.

      1. You're Missing Out

Do you wait to ride Jungle Cruise? The capacity of Rise is comparable to that, and it’s actually on par with many of the rides across property. Also similar to Thunder, Test Track, Rock’N, Slinky, and Flight. It even has a greater capacity than Frozen.
Not to mention the ride length is 18 minutes compared to the 2-9 minutes on the other rides I mentioned.

  6. Ed Dart

Everyone will pay for it. When you pay as much as you already pay just to get into the park, what is another $ 15.00? People will even pay the extra money for Rise of the Resistance, if it means they don’t have to wait 3 hours.

    1. May

The individual rides costs are subject to surge charging. If everybody will pay $15 to get on Rise, that means Disney will increase the price until only a manageable number of guests can afford the fastpasses. My guess is that RotR will cost $50 each during normal seasons and $100 during peak seasons. Or maybe higher. I must not limit my imagination when it comes to Disney prices.

  7. Lisa K Bivona

We already, pay for park ticket to enter. And now Disney pr wants to charge extra for Geni and lighening lane. NOT a good play Disney.

  8. May

Genie+ should also be under surge pricing, otherwise it won’t work properly. During slow season, it should cost much less or be free, whereas during peak season it should cost much more. Otherwise, there are too many people with Genie+, so not many fastpasses are available, and there’s no point in buying it.

  9. May

Genie+ will come out during Thanksgiving and Christmas season, when the parks are super crowded. Which is a great test for the system, I believe. I can’t wait to see how it works out: how many people buy it, how many fastpasses are actually available, how will people feel if they paid for Genie+ but there are still very few fastpasses to choose from. And of course, how many people will actually pay for individual fastpasses.

  10. J

I imagine Disney Shareholders are the only ones happy about this. More money in their pockets for something that used to be free. The magic really is fading.

  11. MaryS

My question is will there be a limit on Genie+ sales per day? Will it be a competition to get to buy a Genie+? Or will they sell so many that you will still need to wait long times in lines?

    1. GenieForAll

Everyone will be able to buy Genie+. The competition will mostly be on choosing the first attraction each day. Each time slot for each ride will only have so much availability though, like FP+. The degree of that is unknown though

      1. Manny

Maybe nobody noticed you are violation of TOS by having multiple accounts. Since it is the same baby in your avatar. You also seem to troll the Disney Genie+ commentary. Funny how almost 90% of the commentary in this blog and other blogs are negative against the Disney genie+ and still Disney is plowing ahead. Well I will show my displeasure on the queue. To add to this several cast members I spoke to said the training in this is little to none.

  12. Melanie Durham

I will definitely be getting genie + and my 2 lightning lane rides per day that I am allowed if my rides are available! It is what it is and I love my Disney!

  13. Eric M

You need to get out more. There are much better adventures to have than paying for overpriced garbage.

Have you been to the louvre? Seen the pyramids? Taken in the view from Machu Picchu? Beheld the wonder of the Grand Canyon or stood in the shadow of the giant sequoias?

If you can’t say yes to those questions stop giving Disney your money and go live!

    1. VB

      AGREED!!

    2. Craig zach

I’ve done more than half the things on that list, and I do really think disney ranks up there, but I think the idea of the genie sucks and I’m not a fan.

  14. Deborah Connolly

We come from the UK to visit Disney World and absolutely love it. However it’s definitely not the same enjoysble, almost relaxed experience that it was in 1997 when we first came. Having to rush around to make certain time slots, on phones checking out shorter queues – it’s not fun or magical any more. Then having to pay extra to queue jump popular rides, the cost starts to go through the roof ! We want to come for the 50th anniversary but I’m not sure if we can afford it. If we do, it’ll definitely be our last visit

    1. Satish

I feel like this is going the way airlines have gone. $15 here, $10 there, $25 here…etc.

Takes away from the complete experience.

  15. Kathleen

I do plan to purchase genie plus on occasion, especially if it’s a short trip or we have someone with us who doesnt go all the time. Still waiting for a release date and more info.

  16. Gail

If you have been a Disney fan from the beginning you would remember purchasing and entrance fee to the Magic Kingdom and then buying a package of ticket for the rides (A-B-C-D-E tickets) or go to a ticket booth to purchase individual ticket per ride. So it seems like Disney is going retro techy!

  17. A

Not interested in paying for something that used to be free. I’ll pass.

  18. Mike

Have not decided yet, for my trip to WDW Resort for 6 night in November from Kalifornia… techn iliturat
