I am extremely disappointed with this new get richer plan for Disney. The amount of money I pay for a week of “on property” accomodations, park passes & food should be more than enough. The per Capita revenue for a family of four is pricing us out of future trips to WDW. 👎👎👎☹️☹️☹️

It’s not just that. It’s the constant asking for more money and requiring you to be on your phone, and incentivizing you to wake up at 6:30 am. Disney has forgotten that they are selling magic. Not only is none of this magical, it dissolves the magic from within. If they need to increase prices, just do it beforehand in the ticket prices and stop exhausting us with all this clutter.

      1. Veronica

PERFECTLY STATED! “All this clutter” is, indeed, exhausting. I don’t want to be on my phone before 7 a.m. so I can jump into the fray first thing each and every day of my vacation. That is NOT vacationing. What is wrong with these people?

  2. Our next Disney vacation (unless they have a sale) is $7100 for tickets and hotel. I am not counting our flights, and on average $1800 for eating. Disney thinks that isn’t enough; we need to pay more and get less. I also have to pay to get us to and from the airport. I refuse to pay for Genie+. Disney’s CEO is a mad man if he thinks I am going to pay. Standing in the Have Nots/ Stand by line will be like a badge of honor!

I agree. Paying to stand in line after you’ve already paid to get into the park is insane. Next thing you know they’ll be charging for the restrooms!

      1. Nancy

        Don’t give them any ideas!!

        1. Pam

We’re DNC members. I am seriously consider well my points, even though I’ll be taking a bath because Disney is no longer Disney. They used to be magical. Now? Visiting the Smithsonian has more magic. And it’s a lot less expensive.

  3. Drew

Disney creating class level resentment (possibly conflict) in lines is also going to be sooo magical.

    1. Manny

Drew that is what exactly has to happen. Besides a bad quarterly report bad press on a consistent basis will be the only thing that will kill this cash grab. People have to make those that use the skip the line service as uncomfortable as possible. There has to be a point where we say, “Enough.”

      1. That's Dumb

I can see this approach backfiring on you very quickly. Have fun paying thousands for your vacation only to get kicked out for being obnoxious, rude, and potentially assaulting other guests. I’ll be more than comfortable using Genie+ and Lightening Lane.

        1. Manny

Just to be clear “that’s Dumb”. No one is advocating violence or assault. Alluding to that came from your claim.

      2. Danielle

Manny, so you’re saying you’re going to harass the people who choose to spend $15 a day to use lightening lane??? If you don’t want to pay for it, that’s your choice. But deliberately making things unpleasant for those that do pay is childish, petty, and outright trashy. The people purchasing lightening lane are simply abiding by Disney’s rules, which is a requirement of park attendance. If you’re unhappy with the offering, your discontent should be directed at those making the rules. Not at those simply abiding by them. I sincerely hope you do not ruin an innocent child’s vacation by being rude to them because their parents decided to buy a lightening lane pass.

        1. ManManny

@Danielle marginalization is an obvious tactic to attack the speaker not the argument. You obviously are happy to maintain the status quo since you have never had to face classicism or racism. Directing dissatisfaction against those that make the rules is another part of a plan but you are also enabling them.

        2. Mars Dust

It’s $15 per *ride*, not per day

    2. AllInOnGenie

Who’s going to be starting that conflict? I can promise you that I’m not going to say anything to anyone, and I’ll be using Genie+ & Lightening Lane. 🤷‍♀️ It’s my vacation; I’m going to do it my way.

      1. Drew

Not sure who. But there’s so much conflict on every little thing in this country, don’t be surprised when it happens.

        1. MannyManny

@Drew revolution doesn’t come from the disparity of rich and poor. It comes from the realization that no matter how hard you try generational progress does not appear.

  4. Barb304

Pay to stand in line after the price you’ve already paid to get into the park? I don’t think so. The execs running the Disney company have either gone crazy or maybe they just got greedier!

We’re seniors living about 90 minutes from WDW and have purchased the annual weekday pass for the last several years. We enjoy spending the day walking around, enjoying any special events and parades, having a nice meal in a sit down restaurant. We usually only partake of 2-3 rides/experiences in a day because we know we’ll be back in the next few weeks. We liked the fast pass system as it allowed us to enjoy those rides/experiences without standing in long lines. But to ask us to pay an additional $15/person/visit is perhaps the breaking point. Much as we enjoy WDW, we’re seriously rethinking our purchase of passes this year.

  6. SomeMumblingBum

“Paid Fast Pass Is Coming…” It’s not actually true. Fast pass, as you note later in your article has been retired. Why would you include a confusing and incorrect product (that never existed and won’t exist) as part of your main title?

  7. Rachel Winiecki

As it seems the latest get Richer Quicker scheme is a Pandemic of Greed. Soon the only folks that’ll afford Disney are those that can vacation on the Rivera as well. Everyone else take a seat in the Back of the Bus.

  8. Rachel Winiecki

I believe the $15.00 is only for those Staying on Disney Property..
More surprises for the Disney faithful….

I’m a DNC member and have been for years. I am seriously thinking about dell my points even though I’ll take a bath. Disney has been less and less enjoyably every year with the increased restrictions and rising costs. Some have made sense like the methods implemented to prevent people to make reservations on multiple restaurants but many of these are just money-grubbing. I am no longer anticipating my next Disney vacation. Without the fun, what’s the point?
(I posted a variant of this above. I didn’t understand what was going on because this screen is so small. Sorry.)

Bob Chapek is dismantling Walt’s Legacy bit by bit. But as long as guests will pay to play he has no reason to change. If everyone would just say “no, you can’t do this” and have it affect the bottom line there will be no changes. Walt’s drwam has become a nightmare.

  11. SG

I can’t see what’s so wonderful and new about the Genie app. The only new thing is it allows you to pay to play, that’s definitely not wonderful!
Plus they’re ruining the adorable Genie from Aladdin!

In 1984 I went to Disney as a middle class kid and my parents were able to take my sister and I for 7 nights to Polynesian. No way I could afford that now for my own family. We are going to stay 5 nights at Wilderness Lodge with my two little boys, which is still very expensive. I chose it for proximity to the park and extra magic hours (or whatever they are called now). We paid a lot to get more time in the park. Now, no matter how early I go, or my strategy or whatever, I will be behind all these LIghtning Lane people. This is probably my kids’ only trip to Disney so it’s very disappointing.
