It’s no secret that many Disney Parks dining locations are highly coveted. Lately, whenever Disney announces that reservations are opening for a restaurant that is reopening, there will be a huge demand to book breakfast, lunch, or dinner ASAP.
Today is no different.
Wednesday, August 11, marked the opening of dining reservations for a number of Disneyland Resort dining locations, including the following:
- Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel
- Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park at Plaza Inn in Disneyland Park
- Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel
- Sonoma Terrace Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party Package in Disney California Adventure Park
The variety of dining reservations becoming available on Wednesday — including highly coveted Disneyland reservations like the Oogie Boogie Bash Dessert Party and (for the first time ever) Trader Sam’s — led to some very high demand. Early in the morning on August 11, sometime before 6 a.m. PST, Guests who visited the dining page on the Disneyland Resort official website were placed in a virtual waiting room as they waited for their turn to book dining reservations. Some fans logged on even earlier this morning and waited hours so they could hopefully be the first in the virtual line and snag their coveted Disney dining reservations.
Note that while dining reservations are normally available to book on the Disneyland app, being that today is the day when reservations are opening for several reopening restaurants, the Disneyland app redirected all Guests to the Disneyland dining webpage in a separate browser in order to accommodate for the high demand and utilize the virtual queue system.
After nearly two hours, we were out of the virtual waiting room and able to attempt to book Disneyland dining reservations. However, we found that most of the reservations for popular dining locations like Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel and character dining with Minnie Mouse and friends at Plaza Inn in the Disneyland theme park were completely booked as of 8 a.m. However, upon checking back later in the day, we did see more availability open up. Our best advice is to keep checking!
Also, please note that dining reservations can only be booked up to 60 days in advance. This is especially important for those Guests who are attempting to make plans for their visit to Oogie Boogie Bash. If you have tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash for the second half of October, then you cannot book your dining package or dessert party package until 60 days prior to your event date. Keep this in mind!
Remember that dining availability can change day to day. If you are unable to get a reservation for a restaurant you hoped to dine at, don’t fret. Just keep checking back leading up to your Park visit and hopefully a reservation will become available for you, as Disney assesses reservation availability and Guests cancel their plans.
We’ll continue to update our website as more news is released regarding the reopening of dining locations and dining reservations at Disneyland Resort. As a reminder, Carnation Cafe reopens on September 16, so we’ll share more information about booking those dining reservations when they open up!
