The Walt Disney Company held its Q3 Financial Results Conference Call this afternoon, during which Disney CEO, Bob Chapek, finally gave some insight on what is happening with the highly anticipated Disney Genie app.

At the D23 Expo in 2019, Disney made several announcements surrounding what Guests can expect to see for the 50th anniversary in 2021 — Including an all-new planning digital experience called Disney Genie.

We already knew that Disney Genie promises to enhance the way Guests plan and experience a trip at Walt Disney World and its four theme parks — Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom — as well as the two water parks on property — Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

Now, thanks to Disney CEO Bob Chapek, we have additional details surrounding the app. During the Q3 earnings call, Chapek explained that the company has made significant investments in sophisticated technology and tools and even created a “revolutionary new multi-tiered service we’re calling Disney Genie.”

Chapek explained how excited they are for the app to debut, and even though we did not get an official debut date quite yet, we do know that the goal of Disney Genie — a user-friendly app — is to create “a better, more personalized, and customized experience for Guests, putting them in control and providing even greater flexibility and choice.”

The Walt Disney Company CEO continued to explain that Disney Genie will help Guests spend less time waiting in line and figuring out what attractions and dining options are available, which, in turn, will help families have more time to have fun.

Later on in the Q3 call, Chapek talked more about the Disney Genie, explaining that MyMagic+ was basically Disney sticking their toes in the pond of this type of transformational work. When it comes to Disney Genie, it is practically MyMagic+ “on steroids”.

Chapek said, “This is going to revolutionize the experience. Guests are going to spend less time waiting and more time having fun in the Parks, with a dramatically improved Guest experience that’s going to make their navigation of their day and planning of their day much easier”.

He continued to explain that essentially, Disney Genie is going to take the consumer preferences that they know about and blend them with basically industrial engineering data in terms of how the Park is operating that day and meld them together to make suggestions on the fly. Not only will this lead to an improved Guest experience, but it will also lead to “substantial commercial opportunities for us as the Guest navigates their days,” per Chapek.
