After three state-of-emergency calls in Tokyo, it seems that a fourth is on the way. It will continue to affect the theme park operations at Tokyo Disney — for both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

The state of emergency will begin on July 12 and run through to August 22, which will also affect Japan, where Tokyo Disney is located. The state of emergency is causing the theme park to extend its reduced hours and extend alcohol suspension through to August 22. If this fourth state of emergency were not called, the measures would have been lifted today, on July 11.

The hours at both Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea are currently adhering to are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Although the theme park reduced hour extension is set to extend through to August 22, the theme park hours on Tokyo Disney’s website show the same hours through to mid-October. Of course, these hours are subject to change, but it is interesting to note that those hours are currently being seen far past the proposed end of the state of emergency.

As you can see in the screenshot above, one of the days even shows Tokyo Disneyland closing even earlier than 7:00 p.m. — at 6:30 p.m.

Tokyo Disney is currently reimbursing ticket sales from July 1 to July 11.

The official notice from Tokyo Disney regarding this news reads:

Oriental Land Co., Ltd. announced today that the Park operating hours for Tokyo Disneyland® and Tokyo DisneySea® Parks will continue to be from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. through August 22. This decision is based on the extension of the priority measures to prevent the spread of New Coronavirus implemented by the Chiba Prefecture local government. In addition, sales of alcoholic beverages will continue to be suspended until August 22. Tokyo Disney Resort® will continue to focus on the health and safety of our guests and cast members in our Park operations. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.

After seeing both Disneyland and Disney World continue to progress in a forward direction regarding safely returning to more normalized operations, it is unfortunate to see that Tokyo Disney continues to face pandemic-induced operational changes.

What do you think of Tokyo Disney reducing hours again, as well as not allowing alcohol consumption?
