Nope. This is the Eddie Murphy version all over again. It will be worse though. It will be about race and white privilege rather than ghosts

Wow, I can’t say this sounds appealing at all. Obviously there is no plot synopsis, trailer or anything but 1. The lead actress is a comedian 2. The writer has penned the show “Dear White People” and 3. While there’s nothing wrong with having a black leading cast but the combination of that and the previous points comes to what may sound like a comedy and Disney pandering to the woke culture?

I would encourage all of you to check out “Behind the Attraction: Haunted Mansion” (S1:E2) on Disney+, it’s actually an extremely entertaining watch for anyone who loves the Haunted Mansion.

The ride is actually supposed to be funny under orders of Walt Disney himself, though his personal beliefs were that people loved to be scared, which is why he wanted the attraction built in the first place.

Marc Davis, who wanted the attraction gag-driven and funny, and Claude Coats, who believed the ride should be dark and sinister, were the 2 art directors to the attraction. This is why the ride starts off dark and gloomy and turns into a “jamboree” of “grim grinning ghosts” at the end.

Rolly Crump inspired the “museum of the weird” vibe with the clock stuck on 13, floating and Madame Leota inside the Gypsy’s crystal ball, while Yale Gracey created all the special effects and illusions from the dinner party to the graveyard jamboree.

Xavier Atencio and Buddy Baker composed the extremely upbeat “Grim Grinning Ghosts”, which was inspired by William Shakespeare’s poem “Venus and Adonis”.

So, yeah, the ride is actually supposed to be macabre and freakin funny, with 999 happy haunts occupying the mansion, except for the, ya know, axe murdering, serial killing, black widow bride lol

I do agree that the new movie sounds like it’s going to suck though. Walt Disney would be rolling in his grave if he knew his beloved company was pushing divisive racism through critical race theory, and succumbing to the neo-Bolsheviks of Hollywood. He served his country proud as an informant for the FBI uncovering communists in Hollywood and producing patriotic, American propaganda during WWII on orders of our government. RIP Master Disney

Seriously though guys, you can’t fight racism by spouting off more racism…

A Haunted Mansion movie COULD be good, but going down the comedic route is the wrong way to go. You have the bride who kills her husbands, instant villain intent on marrying someone who arrives at the mansion by mistake. Obviously some comic relief in the form of the Hitchhiking ghosts, and give us more ‘Grim Grinning Ghosts’. The reason why the first ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie worked is that behind the main action, it stayed loyal to the heart of the ride, I imagine ‘Jungle Cruise’ is probably the same. ‘Haunted Mansion’ was the one ride when I visited WDW for the first time that I NEEDED to ride, so yeah, if it’s going to happen remember the heart and soul of why the ride is so popular.
