In honor of the Halfway to the Holidays celebration this week, Disney Parks Blog has announced a variety of holiday offerings and merry happenings that we can expect at Disney Parks and Resorts in 2021. And, of course, if you love visiting Disney World during the holiday season, you will be happy to know that 2021 will feel pretty close to the pre-pandemic holiday celebrations you know and love.
Per Disney’s announcement, the Disney Resort hotels at Walt Disney World Resort will be getting the holiday treatment in 2021. The Christmas trees will return to the hotels, something that everyone who stays on Disney property looks forward to during their holiday visit, whether they are staying at a Value, Moderate, or Deluxe Resort. But we are even more excited to share that, for the first time in forever, the Disney World gingerbread houses will be back!
That’s right — Disney has officially confirmed that select gingerbread houses will be on display at some Disney Resort hotels.
Here’s what the company shared in a blog post on Monday:
Our Disney Resort hotels will be decked for the holidays, with iconic trees and other seasonal touches. And a guest favorite will return this year, as select gingerbread displays will once again be part of our holiday season! Also at select resorts, you will find restaurants offering holiday menus and specialty food and drink.
As Disney World was going through its phased reopening process and navigating operations during a pandemic, gingerbread houses were not on display at the Deluxe Resorts in 2020. This prevented overcrowding in the lobby area of the Resorts. Plus, it would have been very tempting to purchase a gingerbread treat after seeing the holiday display, but with strict mask rules in place at that time, that would have been challenging.
Now, Disney has confirmed that select gingerbread displays are returning, and we know that Guests who look forward to this holiday tradition are thrilled! In the past, we have looked forward to seeing the Disney World gingerbread houses at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and more. But keep in mind that Disney’s announcement, as you can see above, did not include a list of which Resort hotels are getting gingerbread displays this year, so we will have to wait and see if it is all the typical hotels or if anything has changed with the gingerbread house locations.
