On May 21, the Disneyland Resort announced that it would be ending the mandatory temperature screenings for both Cast Members and Guests beginning on June 15. Unlike Disneyland, Universal Studios Hollywood did not make a statement regarding ending mandatory temperature checks. However, the Hollywood theme park decided to jump out ahead of Disneyland and end their mandatory temperature checks, effective immediately.
Prior to May 25, Universal Studios Hollywood had been requiring temperature screenings for Guests and Team Members before they entered the theme park. They included that information on their website when Guests would see what health and safety procedures were in place at the theme park. The temperature screening information has now been removed from the Universal Hollywood website.
While temperature checks are no longer required to enter Universal Studios Hollywood, there are a number of health and safety protocols that are still in place. Guests visiting the theme park must wear a mask at all times, except while actively eating or drinking. Eating and drinking may only be done in designated dining areas.
Universal Studios is currently allowed to operate at 35% capacity. Universal is allowing both in-state and out-of-state Guests to visit, but Guests visiting from out-of-state must be over the age of 12 and prove that they have been fully vaccinated.
The state of California is scheduled to fully reopen on June 15, meaning that all health and safety protocols that theme parks currently have to follow will no longer be required — although the state will still strongly recommend that “mega-event” venues ask for proof of vaccinations before letting Guests in. Both Universal Studios Hollywood and Disneyland would qualify as “mega-event” venues.
Even though Universal Studios Hollywood will be allowed to operate at full capacity and let in all Guests from out-of-state beginning June 15, Universal has not made a statement about when and how they will increase capacity and when all out-of-state Guests will be allowed back in the theme park.
