Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa reopened on April 29, but with some modifications. One of those changes included that not all dining locations would be available at first. In fact, the only locations that were open at the time included Hearthstone Lounge, GCH Craftsman Bar, and GCH Craftsman Grill.
Now, it has been confirmed that another popular dining location — Storytellers Café — will be reopening to Guests in addition to others, but things will be different from what they were pre-pandemic.
Storytellers Café is reopening with modifications
Storytellers Café at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is reopening to Guests, however, things will look a bit different. For example, instead of a brunch buffet, the restaurant will serve a three-course meal for both breakfast and dinner. Additionally, there will be no character dining offered at this time.
Per Disney Parks Blog:
Guests can also enjoy hearty home-style favorites while dining at Storytellers Café, offering three-course meals for breakfast and dinner. Whether you’re hungry for an American Wagyu Burger or craving a classic Mickey Waffle, there’s something for everyone’s taste buds! Dining reservations are recommended and will be available for booking at a later date, so be sure to check back to the Disney Parks Blog or Disneyland.com. Character dining will not be featured at this time.
For those of you unfamiliar, before Disneyland Resort temporarily closed in March 2020, Storytellers Café at Disney’s Grand Californian hosted Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet, which Disney describes as:
Now adventurers of all ages can enjoy a super-fun brunch with Mickey and the gang! Hear about his globe-trotting travels while dining on a smorgasbord of pleasing plates that includes all the same breakfast menu choices, plus a rotating menu of daily lunch specials. Each delish dish is served with a heaping helping of pixie dust to make family meals a bit more magical!
Please note: Disney Character appearances and menu items are subject to change without notice. Characters visit Guests at all table locations. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
Reservations for Storytellers Café will be available for booking at a later date. Inside the Magic will continue to update you as we get information surrounding the phased reopening of Disneyland Resort. When Disneyland announces the return of character dining to Storytellers Café and other locations at the resort (such as the Plaza Inn inside Disneyland Park), we will update our website.
