Have you ever wanted to wield Captain America’s shield? Of course, you have! Now you can show off your super-soldier moves as you brandish the legendary vibranium alloy shield from the comfort of your living room — virtually — with the latest update to the Disney Movie Insiders app. You can throw, catch, and play targeting games with Captain America’s shield right from your mobile device.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier AR experience puts you in the middle of the action of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “augmented reality” technology allows you to transform your surroundings into a starred-and-striped shield training ground reminiscent of the awesome Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) training montage from episode 5 of Falcon and Winter Soldier, “Truth.” The penultimate episode of the Disney+ series’ current run was a Marvel fan favorite. It featured a battle royale pitting Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Sam Wilson against the new Captain America, John Walker (Wyatt Russell.) Bucky and Sam teamed up to neutralize John Walker and get the Captain America shield made famous by Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) back in the hands of the good guys.

Lucky for you, you don’t have to battle John Walker to get ahold of Captain America’s shield! Just download the latest update to the Disney Movie Insiders app to snap photos of you and your team (or co-workers, as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes like to call themselves) superhero posing with the Captain America shield. You can practice throwing and catching the shield, and earn points by hitting virtual targets. You can use these points to unlock multiple shield variants, like the shield given to Steve Rogers by Black Panther, King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) in Avengers: Infinity War (2018), or the trash can lid a young Steve Rogers used way back in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011).

From The Falcon and The Winter Soldier AR experience description on Marvel.com,
“With the unique augmented reality experience, you can transform your space into an immersive training ground and take aim at targets, channel the power of the shield’s history, and train like Captain America. After scanning your area, the app automatically generates targets in the play area. The more targets you hit (along with accuracy), the more shields unlock featuring different ones spanning the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
