Disneyland reopens this Friday, April 30, and Guests are excited to be immersed in the magic and storytelling at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure once again!
During the closure of Disneyland, some major enhancements took place in Fantasyland, and there is a completely refreshed Snow White attraction for Guests to experience.
As we have previously discussed, Snow White’s Enchanted Wish was being reimagined from Snow White’s Scary Adventures, so that its ending would have a happy turn of events. The attraction which opened with Disneyland in 1955 is a true classic, so having it change will be an exciting reveal once Disneyland reopens.
Walt did say that Disneyland will never be complete and that it would continue to evolve with time, so seeing such a large change to an original attraction is a direct reference and prediction from the main man himself!
Snow White’s Scary Adventures originally had the description that read, for those who would like to know what aspects may have been “scary”:
How Scary Is It?
True to its name, Snow White’s Scary Adventures focuses on the perils of Snow White’s fairytale journey. The ride includes some dark, spooky scenes that may be frightening for young children—including dungeons, skeletons, haunted trees, unexpected transformations and a menacing evil Queen.
Follow the Fairest of Them All
Settle into a wooden mine cart and accompany Snow White as she flees from the evil Queen.
Begin your fairytale journey in the cozy cottage of the Seven Dwarfs, then visit dazzling mines filled with glowing gems. Soon you’ll be riding into the Queen’s sorcery chamber and discovering a magic mirror just as Snow White bites into a poisoned apple!
When all looks lost, will Snow White find her own happily ever after?
New Magic Added to a Classic AttractionDiscover new shimmering and sparkling effects, plus dazzling new scenes with Snow White dancing, the scent of pies baking, and the evil Queen’s collection of spell books and bubbling potions.
Beware the Queen’s Window!
Peer up at the window above the outside entrance to Snow White’s Enchanted Wish and, if you’re patient, you might see the evil Queen pull aside the velvet drapery to spy on those below.
When the change was announced, Disney also shared:
In addition to experiencing familiar elements of the attraction you know and love, you’ll discover enhanced story details and all-new scenes. For example, a new vignette will show Snow White in a beautiful forest setting waking up from her deep sleep. Also, the attraction will conclude when Snow White is reunited with her animal friends and a shimmering castle is seen in the distance.
Imagineers are implementing state-of-the-art audio and visual technology throughout the attraction, including new music, LED black lighting, laser projections and a new animation system. The exterior of the attraction will be completely refreshed with new, fairy tale-inspired details to complement the nearby charming Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Now, it seems that Disney Parks Blog has gone into more detail in terms of what will be altered in the ride in terms of updated technology and music that will give Snow White her fairy tale ending, after all these years.
We start this tour with a look at Disneyland park’s only ride-through Princess attraction, Snow White’s Enchanted Wish – which will be ready to welcome guests when the park reopens April 30. Imagineers have updated this classic Fantasyland attraction with new magic inside and out. Using state-of-the-art audio and visual technology, including new music, LED black lighting, laser projections and a new animation system, the attraction brings to life Snow White’s “happily ever after.”Here, we flip through the pages of the story that “started it all,” and land on one particular scene that hasn’t yet been shared!
From the photo, we can see already that the colors of the scene are much more vibrant than they once were, which is a great detail, and only leaves Guests excited to see more. Plus, from what we can see, the entire scene itself is completely different from how Guests will remember it.
The concept art for the ending looked as we can see below, however, in the photo Disney shared, we do not yet see The Prince. That being said, he may be around the corner, as this could just be a snippet of a much larger landscape.
It will be interesting to see how Guests react once they can ride Snow White’s Enchanted Wish once the parks reopen!
Stay tuned to Inside the Magic as we continue to document all of the opening day Disneyland news!
Are you glad to see Snow White’s Scary adventure change to a less scary and more cheery attraction?
