The newly reopened Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover was up and running as of yesterday afternoon, welcoming Guests to once again ride the rails of the future.
But today, just after lunch, the PeopleMover was evacuated and faced another shutdown.
Newly Reopened PeopleMover Evacuated
The fan-favorite ride reopened yesterday at Magic Kingdom to thrill Disney World Guests. Taking them on a tour of tomorrow, the PeopleMover is a family-friendly ride with no height requirement that’s been a staple of the park since its grand opening in 1975.
Yet today, on its second day of operation, the attraction faced challenges and evacuated all riders just after noon on April 26, 2021. The fix could be as simple as a dropped item on the track, or a glitch in the workings that Imagineers and Cast Members have been working on in these past weeks.
If you check the Walt Disney World app (also known as My Disney Experience), you can see that the PeopleMover is marked as temporarily closed, meaning it is not unavailable. It does not list a time for reopening.
And some Guests have taken to Facebook to share they have been evacuated off of the ride.
On Twitter, the WDW Stats account (@WdwStats) shared that the PeopleMover was marked as down just after noon and remains down at this time. Generally speaking, downtimes average 157 minutes or just over 2.5 hours.
Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover has been temporarily interrupted. On average, an interruption takes 157 minutes.

Moving Via Magnets
The PeopleMover was famously ahead of its time when it opened and still enchants Disney Park Guests today. Here are the details from the Disney World website on the popular attraction at Magic Kingdom:
Move Above and Beyond: Board an elevated tram for a leisurely voyage through Tomorrowland. During your narrated tour, go behind the scenes of attractions like Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, Space Mountain and Star Traders retail shop. See architectural models of Progress City, the prototype for Epcot.
You’ll enjoy amazing up-close views of the park from a unique vantage point.
Magnet-Powered Magic: Always ahead of its time, the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover accelerates magnetically using linear induction motors.
