It seems hard to believe, but Disneyland Park is reopening the gates to The Happiest Place on Earth tomorrow! Cast Members have returned to work after a 412-day closure and they are excited to bring back the magic. Also excited is Disneyland Resort President, Ken Potrock.
“Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy.”
Such powerful words. As I take my last walk before we officially open Disneyland to our Guests tomorrow, I can’t help but reflect on how Walt must have felt on the eve of July 17th, 1955 – feelings of joy, excitement… and nerves! Just like Walt said on his opening day dedication, “Disneyland is your land,” and I am overjoyed that once again this can be a reality for our Guests. #Disneyland
“I’m in awe of them. I’m in awe of their adaptability. I’m in awe of their resilience, their patience, and most importantly, their grace and graciousness over the course of what has been a brutal year. It is so incredibly emotional to have them back…The fact that they are so happy to be here, so passionate about being back, and so excited to make magic. So, I think it’s just incredible.”
Cast Members returning to work at Disneyland Park not only brings happiness back to those who have been missing the theme park but also signifies how the local economy is beginning to come back from an absolutely terrible year due to the pandemic.
Ken Potrock shared on the Disney podcast:
“I feel very focused on what I call “our mission”. We really began focusing on a mission. The mission was to bring our Cast Members back to work, to restart the demand creation of making sure that our fans knew that we were coming back. And, importantly, restart the economic engine, not just of our business and our company, but the economic engine of Anaheim that has been, quite honestly, decimated by the closure of theme parks.”
Potrock summed up how it feels to finally have the Disneyland theme parks opening again with this simple statement:
“Finally, we’re bringing the magic back to our Guests, our Cast, and our community.”
