Hilton Orlando Buena Vista, which sits within walking distance to Disney Springs, has had to furlough more workers as bounce back from the pandemic is not strong enough for their business to rebound.
For many Disney Parks fans who take Walt Disney World vacations, the Walt Disney World official partner hotels at Disney Springs are a great money-saving option for your trip. Not only are you on Disney World property, but you can spend or earn points at your favorite hotel chain.
Despite the convenience and draw of these hotels at Disney Springs, one hotel has had to reduce staff for a second time as the rebound for the pandemic continues to hit business hard.
According to a report from the Orlando Business Journal, the Hilton at Buena Vista Palace, which is an official Walt Disney World partner hotel, has furloughed more staff. According to a letter from the General Manager of the property, James Grosso:
“Contrary to our expectations, our operation continues to be substantially impacted by continued group cancellations, lack of international travel and capacity limitations at local attractions,”
OBJ confirms that 43 staff members were reduced in addition to the 433 who were furloughed in 2020.
We have previously reported on a few hotels in the Orlando area being auctioned off as the pandemic has hit the Central Florida area hard. Central Florida’s economy is dependent on tourism and as tourism came to a halt for a few months in 2020 before slowly reopening and attempting to recover, severe damage had been dealt with local businesses.
We are hoping for a swift recovery for not only the Hilton at Buena Vista Palace but also all of the hotels in the Orlando area.
You can visit the Hilton at Buena Vista Palace website here if you are interested in booking a room at the hotel for your vacation.
Disney Springs is the dining and shopping center on Walt Disney World property, it is free to park and enter and makes for a very entertaining day, or the perfect place to have dinner after spending the day in a theme park. There are many hotels adjacent to Disney Springs that are owned by well-known hotel chains and work in conjunction with Disney as official partner hotels to the Walt Dinsey World Resort.
