Walt Disney World continues to provide excellent service and create Disney magic for families, Guests, and Disney fans alike despite the ongoing pandemic we have all had to endure.

Although many Guests continue to travel this year, there are times when issues and emergencies arise which leads to Guests rescheduling their entire trip. If you are looking into rescheduling or canceling your upcoming Walt Disney World trip, here’s what you need to know about the Disney World Cancelation policy.

Modifying or Cancelling your Reservation

In October 2020, we shared that Walt Disney World Resort was allowing Guests to “Book With Confidence“. This policy (which had been extended amid the pandemic) would allow Guests to plan future Walt Disney World trips and if need be, modify or change without the stress of extra fees.

Furthermore, Disney gifted this perk for Guests who were planning a vacation to Walt Disney World through December 31, 2020, and extended it even longer until April 30 of this year. On the official Walt Disney World website, they explain,

To provide additional flexibility, Disney-imposed change and cancellation fees are waived up to the date of check-in for reservations with arrivals through April 30, 2021.

Cancellation fees imposed by third-party suppliers—including airlines and rental cars, as well as non-refundable products like travel protection plans—are deducted from refundable amounts for Walt Disney Travel Company packages.

Another policy extension?

Please note that this Walt Disney World policy extension will end in less than two weeks (April 30, 2021). Although Disney has not recently announced if they will extend this “Book With Confidence” cancellation policy and if Disney will announce future cancellation fees, we at Inside the Magic will keep you informed as soon as possible.

Furthermore, from May 1 onward, Guests will need to cancel 30 days prior to their vacation in order to avoid a cancellation fee. Guests will receive their 200 dollar vacation package deposit plus any additional funds they applied to their package.

These cancellation and change fees can be a bit expensive for some Guests and refunds may be important so if you’re looking to change your Disney vacation, now is the time.

Modifying your Walt Disney World Resort trip can seem a bit overwhelming for some Guests, so we suggest speaking to a travel agent for up-to-date announcements as Disney terms and conditions change. Guests can also check on the official website for more information and have the option to speak to a Cast Member, email, or call.
