Yesterday, Disney World saw wild winds at the parks, which even knocked over a tree at Animal Kingdom. Today, the storms are only getting worse.
Florida is under a severe weather warning as thunderstorms and lightning are rolling in, with the possibility of one or two tornados, hail, and 75 mph winds.
Although Guests are still enjoying the parks despite the downpour, because of the lighting and thunder, many outdoor attractions have had to shut down for Guest safety. This is something that happens at every theme park, and Disney World Guests should be aware of.

There are a handful of rides that cannot operate when there is lightning in the area. As we can see on the My Disney Experience app, many popular attractions such as Astro Orbiter, Big Thunder Mountain, and Expedition Everest are temporarily closed.
Splash Mountain, Test Track, Swiss Family Treehouse, and Tomorrowland Speedway are also all outdoor attractions and have had to temporarily shut down due to the ongoing weather.
Adding to the list, if you are at Disney World and wanted to ride Kali River Rapids, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Liberty Square River Boat, or anything with an outdoor aspect to the attraction, you will need to wait out the bad weather that is currently ongoing.
Attractions can close down from not just lighting in the area, but heavy winds and rain, so be sure to pay attention to the My Disney Experience app to see when each attraction is safely running again.
Please stay safe if you are in the theme parks today and seek shelter until the storms pass.
