Yes I do accept this. Will have to see whether this changes when I see the movie. Having not seen the original cartoon version I am so excited to see the live action version. Have wanted to see the film for a long time. Jane
Ursula as Triton’s sister has been PUBLISHED CANON in the Disney universe for 30 years! They partnered with Marvel in the early 90s, around the time of the TV cartoon, to produce comic books related to the same time in Ariel’s life as the show. There are multiple references throughout the too short series (of which I own them all in mint condition) about Ursula being Triton’s sister.
This TLM super fan who was seven years old when it came out and can quote the whole thing is excited to see official canon finally being acknowledged in a major film production. Us original generation fans who couldn’t get enough TLM stuff in the early 90s aren’t the least bit surprised by this. We’ve been telling people for decades that Ursula is Triton’s sister and nobody believes us.
I’m also excited about Halle Bailey being cast as Ariel. She has the voice and the smile to be Ariel. I’ve been saddened several times when black TLM fans comment on my TLM stuff, ask me as a white woman what I think about the casting, and brace themselves for an angry rant. I love seeing the smiles on those young fan faces when I say I’m excited about it.
Thank you Rachel. That what do you think about ariel being blk, is how racists test the waters to see if they’re in safe company to be racist with! “Sebastian” is clearly racist trash who is to afraid to stand proudly and alone in his antiblack views! We should feed him to Glut!

I’m an original fan. It came out when I was seven years old and I’ve loved it 32 years. I own all of those comic books, in mint condition. Us original generation fans have been telling people for decades that Ursula is Triton’s sister and nobody believes us because they don’t know those official comics ever existed.
I’m also excited about Halle Bailey being Ariel. She has the smile and the voice and those are the two most important pieces of casting her. It’s saddened me multiple times over the last couple years when I’ve been out and about with my TLM wallet and purse and have younger than me black fans say how much they love Ariel too. Then they ask me what I think about the casting and visibly brace themselves for an angry rant. I love seeing those smiles when I tell them how excited I am about the casting. It’s a thrill knowing how many young black TLM fans there are who now get to see their favorite princess looking like them.
Ariel is all about the voice. I don’t care what she looks like so long as her voice is right. Halle has the right voice to step into Jodi’s shoes and bring Ariel to life for a whole new generation.
ACTUALLY ACTUALLY she WAS Ariel’s aunt in the original 1989 version! It was only cut for time. THIS EMBARRASSING MISTAKE IS WHY IT IS SO IMPORTANT TO LNOW WTF YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT BEFORE YOI JUMP INTO AN FACTUALLY INACCURATE RANT! And stop trying to be passively racist HALLE MFING BAILEY IS ARIEL! SO SWALLOW JLHATF CHOKE ON IT YOU ANTI BLK, MALIGNANT TUMOR PASSING FOR HUMAN EXISTENCE!
Jessica Alexander??? Kill yourself troglodyte
