Universal has confirmed that they will immediately restart work on their newest planned theme park, Epic Universe. Epic Universal is a brand-new theme park planned for Universal Orlando Resort. Construction was indefinitely halted as a result of the pandemic, now however it appears workers will be called back and the project will be getting off of the ground once again.

Reporter Scott Gustin on Twitter shared this announcement from Universal:
Big news from @UniversalOrl– Epic Universe construction will resume immediately.
From Universal: “The restart will begin immediately – but is expected to take several months before reaching full-speed as Universal re-staffs for the project and reassembles its vendor and contractor teams.”

Universal took to their own Twitter saying:

According to Universal Epic Universe will create 14,000 permanent jobs, as well as thousands of temporary jobs during the construction of the theme park.
The CEO of Comcast which is the parent company of NBCUniversal shared this with the Universal Orlando Blog:
“The restart of construction of Epic Universe is a terrific moment for our employees and for our theme park business in Florida,It is our single largest investment in the state and represents our enthusiasm for the spectacular park and the economic opportunities it will generate.”
Chairman and CEO of Universal Parks and Resorts, Tom Williams shared a message of optimism about the Universal theme parks:
“We are excited to begin work on Epic Universe again and for what this moment means for our industry, our community, our business and our team members, Our confidence in our collective future is as strong as ever.”

We have been following the construction of Epic Universe very closely as it will bring some exciting firsts to Universal. Notably, Epic Universe is rumored to be home to Super Nintendo World that was announced as coming soon to Universal Orlando. Universal describes Epic Universe as:
The new theme park will also feature an entertainment center, hotels, shops, restaurants, and more. It will be located within a larger 750-acre site that nearly doubles Universal’s total available acreage in Central Florida. Universal’s Epic Universe is just a few miles from the existing resort in Southwest Orange County. Specifically, it will be south of Sand Lake Road and east of Universal Boulevard.
