A Domino movie? Zaz, go to Disney+…A Domino SERIES is coin of the realm for bit actors now.
Of course, the only reason Domino was in the movie was that Deadpool 2 was originally Fox’s idea to set up a “Deadpool universe”, where Cable would find the New Mutants and set up “X-Force”.
And okay, now that THAT’S not going to happen for a variety of reasons…
“What is most odd about Disney not having Beetz return is with their current focus on featuring a diverse cast in their superhero films they would be eliminating one of the few women of color in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.”
First of all, why does it have to be about race?
Second of all, you’re writing as if there are so few women of color in Marvel Studios productions. Let’s review. Here’s a list of every actress of color that has played a starring/lead role or major supporting/speaking role MCU projects that have been released or are scheduled for release:
By my count, that’s 18 women of color playing important characters in the MCU.
As a counterpoint, here’s the same list for actresses that could be considered “white”:
Scarlett Johansson – Black Widow
Cobie Smulders – Maria Hill
Natalie Portman – Jane Foster
Brie Larson – Captain Marvel
Elizabeth Olsen – Scarlet Witch
Marissa Tomei – May Parker
Tatiana Maslany – She-Hulk
Angelina Jolie – Thena
Rachel McAdams – Christine Palmer
Tilda Swinton – The Ancient One
Karen Gillan – Nebula
Cate Blanchett – Hela
Evangeline Lily – Wasp
Michelle Pfeiffer – Janet Van Dyne
Hayley Atwell – Peggy Carter
Emily VanCamp – Sharon Carter
Renee Russo – Freya
… And that’s 17 women. Even if I’m missing one or two, the sections are about even. I’d say Marvel Studios is doing fairly well as far as representation goes.
As much as I’d like to see more of Zazie as Domino, if Disney decides not to move forward with her, it’s certainly not going to be “eliminating one of the few women of color”.
