Or how about they leave Splash Mountain alone, and make the new Tiana attraction on Tom Sawyer Island along with a restaurant. That way the 101,000 Splash Fans against the re-theme get to keep their favorite ride, and Tiana is represented and celebrated as well. Win win.

Hi. I concur. There is NO reason to change Splash Mountain. There is NOTHING racist about the animals or theme seen in Splash Mountain – NOTHING. This is all about WOKE and PC, not about the current ride. And, there is definitely NOTHING wrong with Tom Sawyer Island. I don’t know how even the ridiculous WOKE crowd could go on the island and see anything wrong. Our society is in a mess – listing to a loud, WRONG few. And Disney leadership is falling lock step along with them. Very sad…

Your speculation has merit. However, they need to complete several other projects first.

How about leave it all alone the way Walt built it.

    1. E

Really? More woke stupidity? Respect what Walt and Roy built and leave it all alone.

      1. Sallie

Leave it alone. Just leave it all alone.

Why not just retheme Splash Mountain to Tom Sawyer Caverns?

Yhea because Walt didn’t demolish entire Tomorrowland within the first 10 years… If Walt would still be there, 80% of Disneyland would be replaced by now including classics such as Peter Pan. So cut the bs, if Walt didn’t like one thing its stagnation.

      1. Ken Brenner

        Hi Mark.
But, the difference is the Splash Mountain change is based on NOTHING but WOKE and PC noise. There is nothing racist about those animals, and certainly nothing wrong with Tom Sawyer Island…

    3. Sandy

      I agree. Leave it alone!!!
If you keep changing everything, there won’t be any “feelings” of Walt in the park. It will just be another amusement park!

    Yep. Would, actually.
But you only had one chance, so too bad you all wasted it on the big “relevant” BLM headlines, and now you’re stuck with Splash Mountain.

Next time, folks, THINK before you Armchair-Imagineer.
There’s a reason why you can’t spell “Imagineer” without the first seven letters.

The first time we went to Disneyland we were struck by how little there is for boys. We found it very Princess-centric for kids under 10. Cars Land really made up for it, but there really seemed to be more for girls in Disneyland. For kids that are too small for roller coasters there’s actually not a whole lot to do. Tom Sawyer’s Island, Pirates and Splash Mountain were an exception. Frontierland could do a lot better than Tiana. You can take away Tom Sawyer and still be left with a Frontier themed island of adventure that isn’t gender specific. It’s a really fun part of Disneyland that’s very unique in that there’s no lines and plenty of happy memories to be made.

      Hi Adam.
I’m an old man (68), but I love Splash Mountain and really like going on Tom Sawyer Island. With it’s caves, flowing water, etc. it is a very unique place. I’d hate to think the WOKE – PC crowd could find something wrong with that! It’s sad when Disney “leadership” listens to a few loud voices, who’s complaints are based on nothing real. Very sad…

1st – Cheapskate Chapek isn’t going to budget changing Tom Sawyer Island at WDW, or Disneyland.

2nd – with regards to Disneyland, you can change Splash Mountain to Princess an the Frog, but you’ll need to:

    A) get rid of Critter Country (Splash Mountain becomes part of New Orleans Square!)

    B) get rid of Pooh Ride (it belongs in Fantasyland!)

    C) put in a Native American – Indigenous American Ride / Attraction where Pooh is at (annex the rest of Critter Country into Frontierland like it used to be!)

3rd – Stop shrinking Frontierland at Disneyland! It’s bad enough we lost a chunk of it to Galaxy’s Edge (and that was a waste!)

Disney Caves again to the “Cancel Culture”.

  8. A repeat WDW visitor

“Why Would Disney Retheme Tom Sawyer Island?” That’s easy – virtue signaling, racial pandering, homage to BLM, and as a sign of repentance for its white privilege.

I’d never heard of Princess Tiena, so I looked her up and found that she’s the afro-centric animated star of Disneys’ corruption of “The Frog Princess” by E. D. Baker which, itself, is a corruption of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale, “The Frog Prince.”

I have a better idea for a WDW retheming. Since Disney has already destroyed one Grimm classic with Tiena’s film. Leave Tom Sawyer and Brer Rabbit alone. Instead, toss-out Cinderella, and offer her castle to Tiena as part of a well-deserved reparations package.

      Hi. Very well put!
      It’s all nonsense!
      And, it’s all very sad…

  9. 1) Reimagine Tom Sawyer Island, build a lift bridge near Big Thunder Mountain for continuous access.

    2) Use island 2 (A.K.A. back half of the island) to build Mama Odie’s Bayou, that can be the facade to some ride or show experience.

    3) Log rafts continues to take guests with dining reservations over to Tiana’s Restaurant that has waterfront & fireworks dining.

    4) Shortened Riverboat Route.

      Hi Erick.
Question: What’s wrong with the current Tom Sawyer’s Island?
It is unique to the parks: Can walk though two islands, there’s 3 caves, a nice old fort, a hill with a running stream, a barrel bridge, etc. It’s innocent, just like those animals in Splash Mountain.
But, I’d like to know why some people these two attractions are wrong. They weren’t before the BLM gang got going in late-May, 2020…
      Thanks!
