It appears that some construction work is about to be done to the Chinese Theater at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the new attraction it hosts: Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway.
We at Inside the Magic have discovered “Notices of Commencement” that were submitted by the Walt Disney World Resort to Orange County stating “that improvement will be made to certain real property.” That real property is the same registered address as the theme park icons, and the “General description of improvement” is to “Provide labor, material and/or electrical for construction.”

This news follows recent events that saw Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway breaking down with Guests mid-ride, and this improvement could very well be an answer to Disney’s lingering problems. However, at this point, that is pure speculation and we have no official confirmation of Disney World’s actual plans for this improvement. More than likely, the work being done in this area will be minor, but we will report back if a temporary closure is announced for this attraction.

What is also interesting, however, is that this permit was filed for the theme park’s centerpiece and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway while another iconic attraction, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster remains closed due to technical issues. It still has not opened to Guests this year, and we will continue to update our readers on both this story and that of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway as more details come to light.
