Ratatouille in TV screen

The TikTok craze Ratatouille: The Musical is actually making it to the stage for a live performance.

According to Playbill, “Seaview Productions will present a filmed concert presentation of the viral sensation Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical. The special will stream on TodayTix January 1 at 7 PM ET as a benefit for The Actors Fund.”

Beginning as a mere internet trend only a few months ago, creators of musical theater jumped at the chance to fully answer the question: “If Disney-Pixar’s Ratatouille was made into a Broadway show, what would it look like?”

“It has been magical to watch the TikTok community create and embrace the #RatatouilleMusical,” said Lizzy Hale, senior manager of content at TikTok US. “From @e_jaccs’ original ‘Ode to Remy’ to @shoeboxmusicals’ set designs, seeing the endless creativity of the platform and the wider community rallying around it has inspired and driven a new forum for theater lovers to express themselves, participate, and enjoy the show.”

“Finding new outlets for creative collaboration has never been more imperative than it is right now,” said Seaview CEO Greg Noble. “We can’t wait to share what these remarkable creators have dreamt up which will now allow them to benefit other artists through the vital work of The Actors Fund.”

We at Inside the Magic have been keeping up with the “show”s progress. We recently reported when the production received its official Playbill, and when an entire ensemble number was performed at the France Pavilion in EPCOT (soon-to-be home of the attraction, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure).

Very few details have been shared so far regarding the official performance, and we will stand by ready to share that information as it comes to light.

The Actors Fund is a charitable organization dedicated to meeting the basic needs to the performers and behind-the-scenes workers in the entertainment industry including financial assistance, insurance counseling, secondary career development, and even senior care. Broadway completely shutdown since March and does not look to open well into 2021, making this organization more vital than ever before.

Click here to get your “tickets.” The show will be available for streaming for 72 hours beginning at 7 pm ET on January 1, 2021.
