If you were looking to hop on a Disney Cruise Line ship and head to Castaway Cay in early 2021, you may need to put a pause on that dream.

Disney Cruise Line has been hit the hardest when it comes to the Walt Disney Company as they have not been able to resume sailings since March due to the coronavirus pandemic. Previously, Disney Cruise Line updated their itineraries by removing all sailings through January and February, and now, we can see that they have officially all been canceled.
This means that the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, and the Disney Wonder will not be sailing until March at the earliest. With cruise dates continuously being pushed back, it has been tough for Disney Cruise Line Guests to find hope that they would be sailing once again, but we have reason to believe that this last cancellation will be it’s final and after a full year of no sailings, Disney Cruise Line will not set sail again until months into 2021.

The official cancellation from Disney comes off the back of other major cruise line companies such as Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Carnival Cruise Line and MSC Cruises who have all took another month off sailing in order to satisfy requirements from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as all ships must meet their respective guidelines. That being said, the Orlando Sentinel reported that DCL has “Port Canaveral sailings of Disney Dream still slated for March 1 and Disney Fantasy for March 6. Disney Magic on March 1 from PortMiami and Disney Wonder on March 12 from San Diego.”

If Disney’s work in their theme parks is of any evidence, DCL Guests should take comfort in knowing that Disney will make sure their health and safety measures amid sailing go above and beyond what is required, considering the theme parks have passed checks by health officials with flying colors. As we mentioned earlier, prepping to sail safely is the hold up for many ships at the moment, so if Disney can manage to complete that by March, things are definitely looking up in terms of the ships actually setting sail in 2021.

We also know that many ships such as the Disney Dream are arriving at their home at Port Canaveral. Considering that sailings are expected to set sail on March 1st from that port, it seems Disney is hopeful that March will be their triumphant return to the seas. We also have wondered if this means that testing could happen prior to March, and if so, would Guests be allowed to join? None of this has been disclosed or discussed by Disney, but the idea that testing would need to happen could mean Disney may invite Guests aboard before their official return.
If you are curious as to which official sailings you could join in March if you want to be among the first to board a Disney Cruise Line ship, the next bookable cruises on Disney Cruise Line’s website are as follows:
All of this being said, there is of course no guarantee that Disney Cruise Line will return for March. Luckily, this is the most hopeful that things have looked for Disney Cruise Line in terms of prepping and moving forward to a date when they can get back on the water. So for now, stay tuned to Inside the Magic to get all the details on whether or not your next Disney Cruise will be hitting the ocean!
